We’re gambling today, people. We have a guy who will go over his number IF he doesn’t have to come out due to hip soreness. Oh, and we are getting him at +130. If we’re being honest, this is my favorite type of MLB player prop. The books really don’t know how to make a line because the realms of possibilities are pretty big. This guy could leave after the first. He could also stay in 5 innings and whiff 10. All gas and no brakes today everyone.
On top of this article, you should definitely check out our experts’ picks on all of the MLB action today. It’s just a smart thing to do. Also, bets can be added to the card, so why not follow me on Twitter in case we get some last-second action? Once lineups are announced for some of these games, there is a chance for opportunity to knock.
Chris Archer over 4.5 strikeouts (+130)
Line available at DraftKings at time of publishing.
DraftKings is offering the best price on this one, so we will play there, although FanDuel was close, coming in at 4.5 +118. BetMGM is not even offering a number, so at least we have something to swing at over at the other shops. Always shop around when you are looking for MLB player props. It doesn’t take long and it helps your bottom line.
There are a lot of people saying that Archer’s last game was a bullpen game. Here’s the thing, he wasn’t supposed to come out in the 2nd inning last time. His hip flared up and he left early. My guess is he was supposed to get cut off at 70-ish pitches. He had just faced 18 batters and almost made it through 5 innings in a AAA game on August 17. Archer says he is feeling better and hopes to go deep into this one today. “Deep” likely means 5 innings at the most, but if that happens, he has an opponent that should whiff.
The Orioles have finally won a couple games recently but they are still high-level strikeout guys. In the last two weeks, Jahmai Jones, Anthony Santander, Ramon Urias and Austin Hays have all struck out in the 30%+ range. Jorge Mateo and Trey Mancini are both above 24% in that span. That’s 6 guys who can whiff at any time and the others aren’t exactly guys who don’t strike out. If Archer goes even 4 innings, he should sit 5 of them down.
