We have another busy day in the world of sports, with a 12-game schedule in Major League Baseball plus some country-club action in the form of golf and tennis. Another week of NFL preseason action is also on the immediate horizon. Let’s take a look at where the public money has gone so far on Thursday.

MLB: Boston Red Sox -1.5 over Minnesota Twins

Bettors’ favorite MLB play of the day is on the Red Sox to win by multiple runs against the Twins. Boston on the -1.5 run line is inspiring a bloated 93 percent of the handle and 92 percent of the bets. On the money line, the Red Sox are considerable -280 favorites. The public certainly isn’t scared away by that juice, though. A total of 71 percent of the money and 90 percent of the bets are supporting Boston to win straight up. And why not? Chris Sale vs John Gant is a gross pitching mismatch. You have to feel good about Boston’s chances at home on Thursday night.

MLB: San Francisco Giants ML over New York Mets

Bettors are also hammering the Giants in their road date with the Mets. San Francisco on the -120 money line is getting 81 percent of the money and 84 percent of the wagers. Punters are quite willing to give the -1.5 runs, too. The Giants are bringing in 90 percent of the handle, and 81 percent of the bets are going in the same direction.

MLB: Washington Nationals vs Miami Marlins Over 7.5

When it comes to game totals, the public is all over the over in this meeting between the Nationals and Marlins. With 80 percent of the wagers supporting Over 7.5, 92 percent of the money is doing the same. There is also a lot of interest on Washington. The Nats are getting 94 percent of the handle (but a more modest 56 percent of the bets) on the -1.5 run line.

Golf: Bryson DeChambeau to win the BMW Championship

The FexEx Cup Playoffs are underway—approaching the midway point, in fact. Tony Finau ended his title drought with a victory at The Northern Trust last week and now the BMW Championship takes place prior to next week’s Tour Championship. With 2 events remaining, the top of the FedEx Cup standings feature Finau, Jon Rahm, Cameron Smith, Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, and Jordan Spieth.

Bryson DeChambeau has hit a bit of a rough path and is close to falling from the top 10 of the standings. That is why you can get him down at +3500 odds to triumph this week. It has been a while since you could get DeChambeau at that price in any tournament. The world No. 6 is being backed by 6 percent of the money and 4 percent of the wagers. That is tied for the most in each department along with Rahm (+1200).

Tennis: Frances Tiafoe ML over Mikael Ymer

As the U.S. Open approaches (begins next Monday), we have some Winston-Salem action on offer today. Frances Tiafoe is a -205 favorite against Mikael Ymer in the quarterfinals and he is inspiring 80 percent of the handle and 78 percent of the bets. It’s not hard to figure out why, as the American really should be a bigger favorite. He loves playing at home in the United States and has looked great so far this week.
