Jaguars quarterback (16) Trevor Lawrence flips the ball away during drills Sunday's scrimmage session public money

We have 6 night games on Monday’s Major League Baseball schedule in addition to the week’s final NFL preseason contest, which pits the Jacksonville Jaguars against the New Orleans Saints. Let’s take a look at where the public money has gone so far.

MLB: Houston Astros -1.5 over Kansas City Royals

Bettors’ favorite MLB play of the day is on the Astros to win by multiple runs against the Royals. Houston on the -1.5 run line is inspiring a bloated 97 percent of the handle and 88 percent of the bets. On the money line, the Astros are considerable -235 favorites. The public certainly isn’t scared away by that juice, though. A total of 92 percent of the money and 86 percent of the bets are supporting Houston to win straight up.

And why not? Zack Greinke is sporting a 3.43 ERA this season and the Astros’ bullpen has been stellar of late. You have to feel good about Houston’s chances at home on Sunday night.

MLB: Chicago White Sox ML over Toronto Blue Jays

Bettors are also hammering the White Sox in their road date with the Blue Jays. Chicago on the -115 money line is getting 92 percent of the money and 73 percent of the wagers. Punters are quite willing to give the -1.5 runs, too. The White Sox are bringing in 75 percent of the handle, and 60 percent of the bets are going in the same direction.

MLB: Seattle Mariners vs Oakland Athletics Over 9.0

When it comes to game totals, the public is all over the over in this meeting between the Mariners and Athletics. With 56 percent of the wagers supporting Over 9, 79 percent of the money is doing the same. There is also a lot of interest on Oakland. The Athletics are getting 68 percent of the handle on the -1.5 run line and 90 percent of it on the -130 money line.

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New Orleans Saints Under 39.5

Unders have been cashing left and right in the preseason, so it’s no surprise that the public is loving the under on the second-largest total of week for this Monday Night Football contest between Jacksonville and New Orleans. With the number at 39.5, 93 percent of the wagers (and a more modest 68 percent of the money) are hoping for a relatively low-scoring contest.

We find no reason to disagree. The Jaguars were shut out for the first 3 quarters at home by the Browns last week; they had just 85 yards of offense in the first half. While garbage-time scores can always occur, it’s not a good sign if you have to rely on the other team playing their 4th-string defense to get on the scoreboard. The Saints scored only 14 points, themselves, against preseason powerhouse Baltimore.
