There’s no football on tonight so you know what that means, baseball is back! We may as well start early with the New York Mets and Miami Marlins on Fox Sports 1 at 6:40pm ET. It just makes sense. Carlos Carrasco vs Edward Cabrera is going to be must watch television tonight and I’m here for it! There has to be a way we can turn this into a same game parlay opportunity.

Don’t forget that you can also follow me on Twitter for any other bets I might throw out throughout the day. You never know when magic will just drop on the feed. Follow now and turn on notifications.

New York Mets vs Miami Marlins over 8.5 (+118) *alt line

Every morning I hit up PicksWise to see who the experts are on. It’s just the smart thing to do. They slapped a 2-star rating on the over 7.5 for this game which makes me pretty confident to throw down on the alternative line. It’s only one more run. What’s the worst that can happen? Carlos Carrasco is going to give up a few runs. We know that. He’s given up at least 3 in 4 of his last 5 starts. In the one he didn’t, he gave up 2. When he leaves, the Mets bullpen will enter and they’ve given up 29 runs in the last week.

The way I see it, if the Mets can get at least 4-5 runs themselves, we’re gold. They just took Marlins starter, Edward Cabrera for 3 last week so we’re halfway home the second that guy throws his first pitch. This game should see some runs. Not an illegal amount, just enough to go over this number.

Carrasco may be getting tee’d up on (a little) but he’s also starting to strike guys out. He’s fanned at least 5 guys in each of his last 3 starts. That’s what I like to call a “sign of life”. The best part is, he may get the boost he needs to crawl over that last whiff since we could see an elevated pitch count tonight. Since coming back from injury, Carrasco has slowly seen his pitch count rise from 58 in his first start to 82 in his last. While he did just face the Marlins in his last start and only fanned 5, they are still a ripe target. Especially if he can face more than 21 batters this time. Over their last 150 at bats, Miami has struck out 50 times which is terrible. It’s not crazy to think Carrasco can sit 6 of them down tonight.

Miami Marlins +1.5 (-118)

The first thing I thought when I saw our experts were on the Marlins ML was, “they’ve gone crazy”. But, sometimes crazy is right and this looks like one of those times. I’m still a little weary though so I’ll go Marlins +1.5. We still get a nice payout and it gives a little insurance. Miami has won on this line in 5 of their last 6 games so we aren’t asking for a miracle. One of the main reasons why is their bullpen. Over the last week, no bullpen in MLB has given up fewer runs. That won’t help our over but the starters should handle that for us. By the time Miami’s relievers come in, we will likely just need them to keep the Marlins in the game. Just give us a nice and easy 5-4 Marlins or Mets win and we’re home. As long as Carrasco can fan 6 of course.
