I love the late slate. In fact, it’s my favorite one (unless I win on the early slate). The late slate is where mistakes go to die. It’s a slate we can look at and forget about any errors that might have happened during the 1pm ET games. Simply put, it’s a redemption slate and one that’s full of NFL player props. I found 1 for Sunday that look like an absolute dime piece. It’s almost disrespectful.

Jonnu Smith over 27.5 receiving yards (-110)
Line available at BetMGM at time of publishing.
As of Wednesday, only 2 of my 3 regular books have a number for our guy Jonnu Smith. NFL player props are always going to differ from book to book so it’s best to get into a habit of checking them all. DraftKings and BetMGM both have 27.5 but BetMGM has it for -110 so that’s where I went in.
Bill Belichick went in on Smith in free agency so it seems he has had a plan as to how to utilize him. Given what the Patriots are working with in terms of wide receivers, Smith should be involved from he jump. My guess is they work the middle of the field with him and even on some screens. Jonnu has the speed to turn anything into a long gainer so 28 yards feels like a pretty low bar to get over.
Miami was good last year at limiting production from opposing tight ends but when we are talking 28 yards opponent doesn’t really matter. Only 9 teams allowed fewer receiving yards to tight ends in 2020 but the New England isn’t going to use this guy like a normal tight end. He’s a beast and beasts get fed. That’s just a fact.
