North Carolina will travel to Florida State on Monday night in a bid to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Despite back-to-back victories against Notre Dame and No. 6 Virginia, the Tar Heels still find themselves on the wrong side of the bubble in most projections. On the other hand, Florida State ended their four-game losing streak with an upset win against No. 13 Miami on Saturday.

After a rocky start to the season, North Carolina has fought their way back into contention with a 7-3 record in a down year for the ACC. However, they still face a must-win situation against Florida State as they look to keep their postseason hopes alive. The team’s outside shooting has been a major issue throughout the season, with a rank of No. 337 in 3-point percentage (30.4). Meanwhile, Florida State has been struggling defensively, ranked No. 295 in effective field goal percentage.

Senior forward Armando Bacot has been leading the charge for North Carolina with 17.0 points and 10.9 rebounds per game, while Caleb Love, RJ Davis, and Pete Nance have all been contributing double-figure scores. Despite a rocky season, Florida State still has some talent on their roster, with sophomore guard Matthew Cleveland leading the way with 14.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Darin Green Jr. and Caleb Mills have also been scoring in double digits.

Florida State may have pulled off a huge upset against No. 13 Miami on Saturday, but they still have a long way to go if they want to make it to the NCAA Tournament. They will need to win the ACC Tournament to secure their spot. Offensively, the Seminoles have been slightly better than defensively, but they are still outside the top 200 in both 3-point and 2-point percentage. However, they are shooting well from the charity stripe and have a low turnover rate.

North Carolina will need to win their upcoming games against Florida State and Duke if they want to remain in the postseason conversation. They rank No. 46 in adjusted defensive efficiency and are No. 17 in defensive rebounding. With the NCAA Tournament quickly approaching, both teams will be looking to make a statement in Monday night’s game.
