Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today! We can’t wait for 15 more NFL games on Sunday and Monday on the heels of Thursday’s thrilling Buccaneers-Cowboys contest, but today we can enjoy some great college football and MLB action in addition to the US Open women’s singles final. So let’s get straight to it!

About Last Night

College football Friday: 3-0 on sides, 2-1 on totals
To say that Pickswise got off to a successful start to the college football weekend would be a gross understatement. Our handicappers went 3-0 on the sides and 2-1 on the game totals during Friday night’s festivities. They nailed Coastal Carolina vs Kansas and Boise State vs UTEP while cashing Duke ATS against North Carolina A&T. All three spreads were big, but–as predicted–all three weren’t big enough.

Today’s Slate

Week 2 of college football
After cleaning up a small 3-game slate on Friday, Pickswise’s college football handicapping team looks to crush a massive Saturday schedule. It includes a pair of all-top 25 showdowns: Oregon vs Ohio State and Iowa vs Iowa State. You can read all of this week’s college football picks here.

Women’s final at Flushing Meadows
And then there were two… Two downright shocking finalists, it has to be said. It’s world No 73 Leylah Fernandez (19 years old) vs world N0 150 Emma Raducanu (18 years old) for the U.S. Open title. I’m 8-1 on U.S. Open picks over the past 3 days and looking to cap off the women’s event in style. Check out my advice for day 13 here.

Rivalry weekend underway in MLB
We have a more than full MLB schedule on Saturday, as the Blue Jays and Orioles are set for a double-header. That means we have 16 games on the menu instead of the usual 15. The slate includes another installment of New York’s Subway Series plus a renewal of the Dodgers-Padres rivalry. Check out our Yankees-Mets preview in addition to the rest of our picks on the side and total for all of today’s games.

Best Bet of the Day

Michigan Wolverines -7 over Washington Huskies
8:00pm ET (ABC)

Washington travels cross country to take on Michigan. The Huskies opened their season with a horrendous 13-7 home loss to FCS representative Montana, so Saturday’s test will likely add insult to injury. As for the Wolverines, they are coming off of a dominant 47-14 win over Western Michigan. Check out our full preview of Michigan vs Washington.

Must-read

There are 30 teams still to start their NFL seasons and you still have some time to read the extensive 32-page Pickswise Preview of the NFL season before Sunday’s games. Our in-depth guide includes assessments of all 32 teams and all eight divisions and you can either read it online, download it, or even print it out to enjoy as you wish and keep by your side throughout the season.

Also on the site today we have Andrew Ortenberg’s take on what we learned from Cowboys vs Buccaneers, our millionaire parlay for Sunday’s NFL games, and the pick of this week’s college football teaser plays.

Stat of the Day

Giants right-hander Kevin Gausman is 6-3 with an ERA of 1.95 on the road this season. Look for such success to continue against a struggling Cubs lineup. San Francisco -1.5 is one of our best MLB bets for Saturday.

Boost of the day

Ohio State to win by 19-24 points

Ohio State is a -14.5 favorite over Oregon on Saturday, so a margin of victory between 19 and 24 points cannot be entirely discounted. It has been spiked up from +450 to +600 by DraftKings Sportsbook.
