Good morning Pickswise Nation, and welcome to the new week! This is Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today. We can tackle Monday with a smile after some great Sunday sports action, so let’s get right into it.

About Last Night

Super Slop strikes again
MLB player props guru John Hyslop remains in red-hot form. Cal Quantrill recording over 4.5 strikeouts in Cleveland’s 3-0 win over the LA Angels made it seven straight wins. Make sure you check out the site later today to see his favorite play for Monday’s slate. Remember, you can also follow us on Twitter @Pickswise to catch all the day’s recommended plays as they drop.

Overall, our Sunday MLB picks went 9-4 (including plus-money wins on the Phillies and Mets) and our MLB Best Bets went 3-1. Read all our picks for Monday’s slate here.

Garoppolo still favored to start ahead of Lance
Our NFL handicappers are 10-5 on their spread picks for preseason Week 2 and 8-7 up on the totals. Sunday’s action saw the Browns beat the Giants 17-13 before the 49ers topped the Chargers 15-10. The attention was on San Francisco’s rookie QB Trey Lance, who went 8/14 for 102 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT, in a mixed bag of a performance that still leaves Jimmy Garoppolo favorite to begin the season as Kyle Shanahan’s starter. DraftKings Sportsbook has Lance at +300 to take the 49ers’ first snap of the regular season and -400 not to.

No blues for EPL Chelsea backers
Pickswise followers tailing our EPL same game parlay on Arsenal vs Chelsea were celebrating as it cashed at +778 odds! The Blues are +280 at FanDuel to win the title behind +100 favorites Manchester City. Make sure you read our picks for tonight’s EPL game between West Ham and Leicester.

Today’s Slate

NFL Preseason Week 2 wraps up
There’s just the Monday Night Football game left to enjoy in the second full week of the NFL preseason and you can check out our picks for Jacksonville at New Orleans here.

MLB action
There’s a select slate of just 6 MLB games today, but what it lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality with the Yankees taking on the Braves. Both teams are on 9-game winning streaks, so something has to give. Make sure you read our predictions for all of today’s baseball.

Best Bet of the Day

New Orleans Saints -3.5 vs Jacksonville Jaguars
8pm ET, ESPN

The Monday Night Football game features two teams who are yet to name their starting QBs for the regular season. Jameis Winston gets the first chance to shine for the Saints tonight, ahead of Taysom Hill, and while Trevor Lawrence is expected to start out of the gate for the Jaguars, Gardner Minshew will also be out to impress. We like the Saints to bounce back from their loss to Baltimore in this game. Read our full game preview for this matchup.

Stat of the Day

Since the MLB trade deadline, the Cubs are a dismal 3-17, including 0-10 at Wrigley Field. They take on the in-form Rockies at home today.

Must-read

As we said there are only six MLB games today, but that’s more than enough for a great mega parlay featuring three of our favorite picks on today’s card. Don’t forget you can find more of this week’s great betting content on the Analysis tab.

Boost of the day

Chicago Cubs & Oakland A’s both to win
Boosted to +260 with FanDuel Sportsbook

FanDuel Sportsbook has added a chunk of value to this MLB parlay, lefting the odds of the Cubs and Athletics both winning their games from its original price of +204 to +260.
