We have put together a 4-pick cross-sport parlay that will take you right through Wednesday night including action from the MLB and College Football.
Three picks are taken from the MLB with one coming from College Football. A winning ticket gives us a nice payout with odds at +1152 with FanDuel; that’s more than 11/1! Let’s break down each of these plays. Remember to gamble responsibly.
MLB pick: Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 (+100) vs Washington Nationals, 7:05pm ET
Since moving to the rotation, Washington’s Paulo Espino has had his moments but he is not expected to do much and you are just as likely to get less than 5 innings from him than more. His lone start against the Phillies was his worst of the season as he gave up 6 runs. His home splits are just average, so it is hard to back him here.
Aaron Nola still has a lot of respect in the marketplace and he and the Phillies are heavy favorites on Wednesday. Even though the Philadelphia offense is a little light these days I think we can count on Nola to be good enough to back the Phillies on the run line. I think the righty is due for a dominant outing.
MLB pick: Baltimore Orioles vs Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 (-137), 7:07pm ET
Left-hander Steven Matz will take the hill for Toronto. Matz has allowed 2 or fewer earned runs in 5 straight starts, and he has posted a 1.30 ERA over that span. He’s finding a bit of a groove on the mound, and he will face a Baltimore lineup that is posting the fourth-lowest OPS on the road so far this season (.651). The O’s did not record a hit until the 6th inning last night against Hyun-Jin Ryu, and Matz has the capacity to give them more problems in this matchup. Look for the Blue Jays to bounce back at the plate while Matz spins a quality outing. Back the Blue Jays -1.5.
MLB pick: Boston Red Sox vs Tampa Bay Rays ML (-116), 7:10pm ET
Drew Rasmussen has been excellent in the starting rotation for the Rays this season. In 5 starts, he has allowed 5 runs on 9 hits in 18 innings and was excellent in his one start against the Red Sox. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 4 innings and Boston hitters have a minuscule .150 batting average and 3.01 FIP against Rasmussen in their careers. Rasmussen has slowly been built into a starter as he has gone farther into the game each time he has pitched which means he will likely be able to go at least 5 innings if not more.
The Rays bullpen will be coming into the game around the 5th or 6th inning which will work well for them since their bullpen has the 4th-best ERA and 5th-best WHIP in the last 15 days. Tampa Bay has the healthier offense and the stronger bullpen, so they are one of the best underdogs to back on Wednesday.
NCAAF Pick: UAB Blazers vs Jacksonville State Gamecocks – Over 51.5 points (-106), 7:30pm ET
Both of these teams have strong offenses, with UAB averaging 28.4 ppg and JSU averaging 25.3 ppg last season. Both teams are returning starters on both sides of the ball. UAB will be looking to throw the ball against a well-built run defense and they should be successful. UAB has hit the over 10 times out of 12 when they are a 10.5 to 15-point favorite at home. Look for this game to start slowly but pick up in the second half and cover the total.
