To say it was a successful day at the baseball office for Pickswise would be a gross understatement.
Our handicappers were hard at work breaking down the action in Major League Baseball on Wednesday, and it paid out in grand fashion–with not one, and not two, but three successful parlays. Soccer also found its way into the party, helping out with one leg of our cross-sport parlay.
Let’s recap the Wednesday winnings.
MLB Parlay (+552): Astros -1.5, Tigers ML, Athletics ML
In our standard 3-team MLB parlay, the Astros, Tigers, and Athletics all took care of business. Houston easily covered its -1.5 run line against Colorado, as Framber Valdez held the Rockies in check en route to a 5-1 victory. Detroit had no trouble with Baltimore, prevailing by a 5-2 decision. Oakland wrapped it up for us by using a big 8th inning to come away with a 6-3 win at Cleveland.
MLB Mega Parlay (+890): Cardinals -1.5, Blue Jays -1.5, Giants -1.5, Mariners ML
Our 4-team mega parlay also cashed, with three 3 teams covering -1.5 run lines and the Mariners winning outright (it’s a good thing we didn’t have the M’s -1.5, too, because their victory was of the 2-1 variety over the Rangers!). Success for the Cardinals, Blue Jays, and Giants was never in any doubt. Adam Wainwright tossed a gem to lead St. Louis past Pittsburgh 4-0. Toronto gave up a home run to Angels star Shohei Ohtani, but 4 dingers of its own paved the way to a 10-2 romp. San Francisco also left the yard 4 times in its 7-2 defeat of Arizona. As for Seattle, it capped things off in style; a Luis Torrens walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th inning cashed our mega parlay in dramatic fashion.
Make sure you check out today’s MLB mega parlay as we bid to make it two in a row!
Cross-Sport Parlay (+989): Cardinals ML, Tigers ML, Chelsea vs Villarreal Draw
This was originally a 4-team parlay, but 1 leg was pushed. And boy are we happy with that push! In KBO action, the Kia Tigers trailed the Hanwha Eagles 7-1 before rallying for 6 runs in the 9th inning. There are no extra innings in the KBO, so the game ended a tie. Meanwhile, we went all in on both the Cardinals and the Tigers–also using them in this cross-sport parlay. The 4th and final leg was a +270 play by itself, and it hit when Chelsea and Villarreal played to a regulation draw (1-1) in the UEFA Super Cup final (Chelsea ended up winning in penalty shootout).
MLB Best Bet (-167): Cardinals ML
As you might expect based on seeing them in 2 different parlays, the Cardinals were our best MLB bet of the day. They certainly did not disappoint, either. Backed by a 3-unit stake at -167, St. Louis went into Pittsburgh and eased to a shutout victory thanks mostly to Wainwright’s complete-game 2-hitter. The 39-year-old struck out 7 batters and walked none. Thank you, Adam!
We are now on a 12-5 MLB best bet run over the past 5 days. Check out Thursday’s MLB best bets. We have also hit 8 of our last 10 player prop bets!
