MLB Picks Today — August 10, 2026

Updated August 10, 2026 · Money Maverick Sports

Ten games tonight, every one lined at the standard 1.5-run spread, so the split between favorite and underdog price is really a bet on how often the favorite's edge shows up in one run versus two. Totals range from 7 up to 10, giving the total market more separation than the sides across most of this board. The tightest moneylines cluster in the middle window, the widest gap belongs to the last game of the night.

It is a historical record: the games have been played, the prices are not current, and nothing here is available to bet. For the live slate see mlb picks today.

The Card On Aug 10

Baseball is a volume sport. Fifteen games a day means more chances to be right and far more chances to overplay, so sizing matters more here than in any other league.

Game-By-Game Previews

How these previews are written

Each read below is drafted by our preview engine from the consensus numbers on this board and nothing else, then filtered before publication: it cannot cite an injury, a record or a statistic, because it is not given any, and language that promises a result is rejected outright. They are a starting point for your own handicapping, not a substitute for it. The plays we actually stake are on the card above.

Every number quoted in these reads is the one that was on the board on August 10, 2026. Nothing here has been revised with hindsight, and nothing here reflects the current market.

Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays

Card focus

MLB · Mon 7:07 PM ET · Sox -1.5 · O/U 8.5 · ML Sox -154 / Jays +136

Boston's -154 price against Toronto's +136 implies a win rate near 61 percent, but the -1.5 run line asks for more than a plain win — it needs a two-run margin. That gap between overall win odds and run line-worthy wins is where the number gets interesting; if Boston's advantage tends to show in close, one-run games, the moneyline is the better route than the spread. The 8.5 total is middle of the pack for this slate, not a strong lean either way.

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves

Card focus

MLB · Mon 7:15 PM ET · Braves -1.5 · O/U 8.5 · ML Mets +130 / Braves -145

Atlanta's -145/+130 line puts them near 59 percent to win outright, and they're also carrying a -1.5 run line. The moneyline underdog price on the Mets at +130 is worth more than the spread number alone suggests if Atlanta's edge is thin and close-game dependent. At 8.5, the total sits in the same range as most of tonight's card, offering no obvious lean without more specific run-scoring context than the market snapshot provides.

Baltimore Orioles at Minnesota Twins

Card focus

MLB · Mon 7:40 PM ET · Orioles -1.5 · O/U 8.5 · ML Orioles -117 / Twins +102

This is close to a pick'em underneath the run line — Baltimore's -117/+102 moneyline implies barely 54 percent to win straight up, yet they're still -1.5. That combination means the market thinks a sizable share of Orioles wins come by exactly one run, which is the losing side of the spread. The total at 8.5 is unremarkable for this slate. The moneyline gap here is tighter than most, making the side the more debatable number tonight.

Philadelphia Phillies at St. Louis Cardinals

MLB · Mon 7:46 PM ET · Phillies -1.5 · O/U 9 · ML Phillies -116 / Cardinals +105

Philadelphia's -116/+105 line is nearly a coin flip in probability terms, about 54-49, which makes the -1.5 spread a stretch relative to the moneyline read. For the Phillies to be the right side of that number, their wins need to skew toward multi-run margins rather than one-run finishes. The total at 9 is on the higher end of tonight's card, worth more attention than the side given how flat the moneyline gap is.

Texas Rangers at Los Angeles Angels

MLB · Mon 9:38 PM ET · Rangers -1.5 · O/U 8 · ML Rangers -115 / Angels +103

Texas at -115 and Los Angeles at +103 is another near-even moneyline underneath a -1.5 spread, implying roughly 53 to 49 percent in win probability. That's a thin cushion for a two-run request. The total sits at 8, the second-lowest number on the board, which puts more emphasis on pitching-driven outcomes than the side does. With the moneyline this flat, the total is the more textured number in this matchup.

Colorado Rockies at Arizona Diamondbacks

MLB · Mon 9:40 PM ET · Diamondbacks -1.5 · O/U 8.5 · ML Rockies +180 / Diamondbacks -202

Arizona's -202 price implies close to 67 percent to win outright, a real gap over Colorado's +180, and the -1.5 line largely tracks that same lean. For Colorado to be live on the spread, they need either an outright upset or a narrow Arizona win, both less likely paths given the moneyline spread. At 8.5 the total is standard for the slate, leaving the side as the more clearly defined number here.

Tampa Bay Rays at Athletics

MLB · Mon 9:41 PM ET · Rays -1.5 · O/U 10 · ML Rays -158 / Athletics +139

Tampa Bay's -158/+139 line implies around 61 percent to win, similar in shape to Boston's game earlier tonight, again under a -1.5 spread that requires a two-run margin rather than just a win. The total here stands out at 10, the highest on the board, suggesting the market expects more scoring than in most other games tonight. That makes the total the number worth more scrutiny relative to the side.

Milwaukee Brewers at San Diego Padres

MLB · Mon 9:41 PM ET · Brewers -1.5 · O/U 7 · ML Brewers -118 / Padres +104

Milwaukee's -118/+104 moneyline is essentially a 54-49 split, tight enough that the -1.5 spread is asking the Brewers to clear a bar their overall win rate barely supports. The total at 7 is the lowest number on the slate, a meaningful departure from the 8 to 10 range seen elsewhere tonight. Given how compressed the moneyline is, the total's outlier position makes it the more notable line in this matchup.

Houston Astros at San Francisco Giants

MLB · Mon 9:46 PM ET · Astros -1.5 · O/U 8.5 · ML Astros -142 / Giants +129

Houston's -142/+129 line implies close to 59 percent to win straight up, a moderate but not overwhelming edge to carry a -1.5 spread. The gap between that win probability and the run line requirement leaves room for the Giants to be live on the number even in games Houston wins outright. The total at 8.5 is right in line with most of tonight's card, not a standout figure either direction.

Kansas City Royals at Los Angeles Dodgers

MLB · Mon 10:10 PM ET · Dodgers -1.5 · O/U 7.5 · ML Royals +238 / Dodgers -275

Los Angeles at -275 implies roughly 73 percent to win outright, the clearest favorite on tonight's board, with Kansas City's +238 reflecting how lopsided the moneyline is under the same -1.5 spread everyone else is getting. That size of gap means the run line is closer to the moneyline's own implied margin than in the tighter games above. The 7.5 total is on the lower end, worth weighing against how often a heavy favorite like this wins by exactly one run.

How To Read Today's MLB Numbers

Baseball prices differently from football, and reading the board above the way you would read an NFL slate is the most common mistake a crossover bettor makes.

  • The moneyline is the real market. Run lines exist, but the -1.5 is a derivative of a price that is already tight. Start with the moneyline and the implied probability it represents.
  • Ten cents is enormous. The difference between -140 and -150 on a side you bet all season is the difference between a winning year and a flat one. This is the sport where line shopping pays the most.
  • Totals carry more information than sides. A baseball total moves on pitching, park and conditions, and the market's estimate of all three is knowable in advance. See park factors.
  • Lineups and pitching changes reprice everything. A confirmed scratch can move a total a full run. Numbers posted this morning are a starting point, not a settled price.

Why Baseball Punishes Overbetting

A full MLB slate offers fifteen games and forty-five markets before you reach props. That volume is the sport's opportunity and its trap: the same bettor who would take two NFL plays a week will happily take eight baseball plays a night, and the bankroll cannot absorb the correlation or the variance.

The practical rule

A baseball day should look like a normal day, not a bigger one. If a full slate routinely produces more plays than a thin one, the selection process is responding to availability rather than to price.

The mathematics behind that is in variance and drawdowns: a 55% bettor still loses six of ten some weeks, and the only thing that decides whether that is survivable is how much was on each one.

What Makes Today's Card

Every MLB play on the card has to clear the vig on its own merits — our price on the game differs from the market's by more than it costs to get on. Starting pitching and the total do most of that work, which is why the card leans toward totals and first-five-innings markets more than most services do.

The first five innings page explains why removing a bullpen from the equation often prices better than betting the full game, and the record is posted publicly either way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the odds on this page still available to bet?

No. Every spread, total and price here is the market snapshot captured on August 10, 2026, the day this edition published. The games have been played and the numbers are a historical record. For the current board see mlb picks today.

Why keep old editions online?

Because a service that deletes its old boards is asking to be taken on trust. Keeping each edition exactly as it published means the numbers we posted before the games can be checked against what happened after them, and the graded plays are totalled on the records page whether the month was good or bad.

Were the plays on this card graded?

Plays are graded once the games finish, and the result is shown on the card above — win, loss or push. A play still marked pending on an old edition is one that has not been settled yet; it is never removed. Past results do not predict future results.
