MLB Picks Today — September 14, 2026
Updated September 14, 2026 · Money Maverick Sports
Every game on this Monday slate carries the standard -1.5 run line, so each side/spread question reduces to whether the favorite clears a two-run margin, not just wins outright. Totals range from 7 up to 11, wider than usual, which makes the total the more variable read across the board. Moneylines vary from near pick'em to heavy favorites, and several of those prices sit oddly close to their run-line implications.
Archived edition — market snapshot from Monday, September 14, 2026. Every spread, total and price on this page is the number that was on the board when this edition published on that date. It is a historical record: the games have been played, the prices are not current, and nothing here is available to bet. For the live slate see mlb picks today.
The Card On Sep 14
Baseball is a volume sport. Fifteen games a day means more chances to be right and far more chances to overplay, so sizing matters more here than in any other league.
No graded plays were published on this page for September 14, 2026. Members receive the full card — every play, the write-up behind it and the recommended unit sizing — before the numbers move, and every result is posted publicly afterwards on the records page whether it won or lost.

Game-By-Game Previews
Each read below is drafted by our preview engine from the consensus numbers on this board and nothing else, then filtered before publication: it cannot cite an injury, a record or a statistic, because it is not given any, and language that promises a result is rejected outright. They are a starting point for your own handicapping, not a substitute for it. The plays we actually stake are on the card above.
Every number quoted in these reads is the one that was on the board on September 14, 2026. Nothing here has been revised with hindsight, and nothing here reflects the current market.
Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Guardians
Card focus
MLB · Mon 6:41 PM ET · Guardians -1.5 · O/U 7 · ML Sox +128 / Guardians -150
Cleveland's -150 moneyline prices in plenty of one-run wins that the -1.5 line strips out; laying that number means needing a two-run margin, a distinct ask from simply picking the winner. Chicago at +128 stays live on any single-run loss, which is a wider band than the ML price alone suggests. The total at 7 sits below the field average for this slate, making the under-side conversation arguably sharper than the spread tonight.
Los Angeles Dodgers at Cincinnati Reds
Card focus
MLB · Mon 6:41 PM ET · Dodgers -1.5 · O/U 8 · ML Dodgers -220 / Reds +185
A -220 moneyline implies a heavy favorite, but the -1.5 line asks for more than a raw win — Los Angeles has to clear the margin by two, cutting into all the one-run outcomes baked into that price. Cincinnati at +185 survives any single-run defeat. The total at 8 is a fairly typical number for this pairing, leaving the spread as the more interesting number to parse than the total.
Detroit Tigers at Toronto Blue Jays
Card focus
MLB · Mon 7:08 PM ET · Jays -1.5 · O/U 7.5 · ML Tigers +114 / Jays -131
Toronto's -131 price is modest for a -1.5 favorite, meaning the market views the two-run-margin path as close to even beyond the straight win. Detroit at +114 cashes on anything short of a two-run loss, a fairly generous cushion for that price. Total sits at 7.5, a standard number with no push risk, so the side carries more signal here than the total.
Baltimore Orioles at New York Mets
MLB · Mon 7:11 PM ET · Mets -1.5 · O/U 8 · ML Orioles +105 / Mets -121
The gap between New York's -121 and Baltimore's +105 is tight for a run-line favorite, suggesting the market sees the two-run cover as close to a coin flip once you separate it from the straight win. Baltimore near even money only needs to avoid a two-run defeat. Total at 8 is unremarkable for the slate, so the closeness of the moneyline pair is the more notable detail in this one.
Atlanta Braves at Chicago Cubs
MLB · Mon 7:41 PM ET · Cubs -1.5 · O/U 9.5 · ML Braves +115 / Cubs -135
The total here is 9.5, clearly elevated against the rest of tonight's board, which makes it the more interesting number relative to the -1.5 side. Chicago's -135 price is a middling lean for a run-line favorite, and Atlanta at +115 stays live through any one-run loss. With the total set well above the field average, the scoring question deserves more weight than the two-run margin question on the side.
New York Yankees at Minnesota Twins
MLB · Mon 7:41 PM ET · Yankees -1.5 · O/U 8.5 · ML Yankees -136 / Twins +115
New York's -136 moneyline against the -1.5 line means the market isn't pricing much daylight between winning outright and winning by two — a narrower gap than some -1.5 favorites carry. Minnesota at +115 is live on any single-run loss. The total at 8.5 sits above the middle of tonight's totals, giving it slightly more to say than the spread in this particular matchup.
San Francisco Giants at St. Louis Cardinals
MLB · Mon 7:46 PM ET · Cardinals -1.5 · O/U 8 · ML Giants +118 / Cardinals -140
St. Louis at -140 needs to clear the same two-run threshold as every other -1.5 favorite tonight, and that price leaves a reasonable amount of room for San Francisco's +118 to cash on a one-run defeat. The total at 8 is right in line with the slate's typical number, so this one doesn't offer a standout angle on either side — the spread's margin question is the more specific thing to weigh.
San Diego Padres at Colorado Rockies
MLB · Mon 8:41 PM ET · Padres -1.5 · O/U 11 · ML Padres -186 / Rockies +155
The total is 11, well above every other number on this board, and that alone makes it the headline figure in this matchup rather than the side. San Diego's -186 moneyline against the -1.5 line still requires a two-run margin, with Colorado's +155 alive on any one-run loss. Given how far the total sits from the field average, the scoring number carries more weight here than the spread does.
Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Angels
MLB · Mon 9:39 PM ET · Mariners -1.5 · O/U 8 · ML Mariners -113 / Angels -104
Seattle's -113 and Los Angeles's -104 are about as close as moneylines get, yet the -1.5 line still demands a two-run margin from Seattle — a materially bigger ask than the near-even moneyline implies. That gap between the two markets is the notable thing here, more than the total, which sits at a fairly standard 8 for the slate.
Miami Marlins at Arizona Diamondbacks
MLB · Mon 9:41 PM ET · Diamondbacks -1.5 · O/U 8 · ML Marlins +114 / Diamondbacks -130
Arizona's -130 price for a -1.5 favorite leaves real room for Miami's +114 to cash on any one-run loss, since the run line filters out exactly those outcomes that the moneyline prices in. The total at 8 is squarely average for tonight's board, so there's nothing about the scoring number that stands out relative to the field — the two-run margin question on the side is the sharper one to focus on.
How To Read Today's MLB Numbers
Baseball prices differently from football, and reading the board above the way you would read an NFL slate is the most common mistake a crossover bettor makes.
- The moneyline is the real market. Run lines exist, but the -1.5 is a derivative of a price that is already tight. Start with the moneyline and the implied probability it represents.
- Ten cents is enormous. The difference between -140 and -150 on a side you bet all season is the difference between a winning year and a flat one. This is the sport where line shopping pays the most.
- Totals carry more information than sides. A baseball total moves on pitching, park and conditions, and the market's estimate of all three is knowable in advance. See park factors.
- Lineups and pitching changes reprice everything. A confirmed scratch can move a total a full run. Numbers posted this morning are a starting point, not a settled price.
Why Baseball Punishes Overbetting
A full MLB slate offers fifteen games and forty-five markets before you reach props. That volume is the sport's opportunity and its trap: the same bettor who would take two NFL plays a week will happily take eight baseball plays a night, and the bankroll cannot absorb the correlation or the variance.
A baseball day should look like a normal day, not a bigger one. If a full slate routinely produces more plays than a thin one, the selection process is responding to availability rather than to price.
The mathematics behind that is in variance and drawdowns: a 55% bettor still loses six of ten some weeks, and the only thing that decides whether that is survivable is how much was on each one.
What Makes Today's Card
Every MLB play on the card has to clear the vig on its own merits — our price on the game differs from the market's by more than it costs to get on. Starting pitching and the total do most of that work, which is why the card leans toward totals and first-five-innings markets more than most services do.
The first five innings page explains why removing a bullpen from the equation often prices better than betting the full game, and the record is posted publicly either way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the odds on this page still available to bet?
No. Every spread, total and price here is the market snapshot captured on September 14, 2026, the day this edition published. The games have been played and the numbers are a historical record. For the current board see mlb picks today.
Why keep old editions online?
Because a service that deletes its old boards is asking to be taken on trust. Keeping each edition exactly as it published means the numbers we posted before the games can be checked against what happened after them, and the graded plays are totalled on the records page whether the month was good or bad.
Were the plays on this card graded?
Plays are graded once the games finish, and the result is shown on the card above — win, loss or push. A play still marked pending on an old edition is one that has not been settled yet; it is never removed. Past results do not predict future results.
