College Football Picks Today — October 10, 2026
Updated October 10, 2026 · Money Maverick Sports
A 13-game Saturday built mostly around the 3-point key number, with four games sitting right on Arizona-WVU, Tulane-Army, Texas A&M-Missouri and Wake-NC State at -3.5. The slate also carries two lopsided favorites, Northwestern at -35.5 and Florida at -11, where the side market has little left to argue and the total becomes the only live number. Totals range from a tight 43.5 up to 61, giving more texture than most of the point spreads here.

The Card On Oct 10
College football is the softest major market in American betting, because a hundred and thirty teams is more than any book can price precisely and far more than the public watches.
No graded plays were published on this page for October 10, 2026. Members receive the full card — every play, the write-up behind it and the recommended unit sizing — before the numbers move, and every result is posted publicly afterwards on the records page whether it won or lost.

Game-By-Game Previews
Each read below is drafted by our preview engine from the consensus numbers on this board and nothing else, then filtered before publication: it cannot cite an injury, a record or a statistic, because it is not given any, and language that promises a result is rejected outright. They are a starting point for your own handicapping, not a substitute for it. The plays we actually stake are on the card above.
Every number quoted in these reads is the one that was on the board on October 10, 2026. Nothing here has been revised with hindsight, and nothing here reflects the current market.
Central Michigan Chippewas at Ohio Bobcats
Card focus
NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Bobcats -2 · O/U 46 · ML Chippewas +110 / Bobcats -132
Ohio's -2 sits well short of the 3-point threshold, so this is priced as close to a true toss-up on the field. The moneyline split, -132 on Ohio against +110 on Central Michigan, implies a bit more separation than two points suggests, which usually means the market expects Ohio to control the game without needing a big scoring margin. At a 46 total, both sides of that number depend on whether either offense can sustain drives rather than trade quick scores. The side is the more interesting number here.
Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Navy Midshipmen
Card focus
NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Midshipmen -1.5 · O/U 48.5 · ML Hurricane +104 / Midshipmen -125
Navy -1.5 is about as flat a number as this market produces, and the moneyline, -125 to +104, confirms the books see almost no gap between these teams. For Tulsa to be right on the side, it just needs to avoid losing by two, a low bar given how tight the line is. The total at 48.5 is the more structured question, sitting in the middle of this slate's range, and with a spread this close the total is where the real disagreement in projected scoring shows up.
USC Trojans at Penn State Nittany Lions
Card focus
NCAAF · Sat 7:30 PM ET · Lions -1.5 · O/U 54.5 · ML Trojans +103 / Lions -123
Penn State -1.5 and a near-even moneyline, -123 to +103, make this the flattest side number on the slate. USC covering requires nothing more than a one-score loss or better, which is a modest ask against a number this small. The total of 54.5 is notably high relative to the spread, meaning the market expects this to be decided by who scores last rather than who dominates territory. That makes the total, not the spread, the sharper angle to weigh here.
Arizona Wildcats at West Virginia Mountaineers
NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Wildcats -3.5 · O/U 61 · ML Wildcats -175 / Mountaineers +147
Wildcats -3.5 is a real but containable edge — the market expects them to win without expecting the game to stop being a game. 61 is the posted total. Comparing it against what you think the game looks like is usually a cleaner decision than picking a side this close. Moneyline consensus is Wildcats -175 / Mountaineers +147. The number sits beside 3, the most common football margin, which makes shopping for the better side of that half point the whole decision. The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 12:00 PM ET rather than assuming they match.
Tulane Green Wave at Army Black Knights
NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Knights -3.5 · O/U 48.5 · ML Wave +145 / Knights -170
Army -3.5 crosses the 3-point key number, so unlike a flat -3, Tulane covering by exactly a field goal isn't on the table as a push risk, it's simply a backdoor cover or nothing. The -170 moneyline on Army suggests the market leans toward Army winning outright more often than the half point alone would indicate. At a 48.5 total, this looks built around field position and limited possessions, which makes the total a reasonable companion look to the spread rather than a throwaway number.
Sacramento State Hornets at Bowling Green Falcons
NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Falcons -8.5 · O/U 43.5 · ML Hornets +260 / Falcons -325
Bowling Green -8.5 sits between the common 7 and 10 margins, so for Sacramento State to cover it needs either a backdoor score or to simply keep the final gap under nine. The -325 moneyline confirms a heavy favorite lean independent of the number. What stands out more is the 43.5 total, the lowest on this slate, which suggests the market expects this to be a lower-possession game than the scoreline gap implies. That makes the total the sharper number to examine here.
Indiana Hoosiers at Nebraska Cornhuskers
NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Hoosiers -8 · O/U 48 · ML Hoosiers -330 / Cornhuskers +260
Indiana -8 sits just past the 7-point key number, meaning Nebraska covering by exactly a touchdown margin is no longer a push, it has to find one more point than that. The -330 moneyline is steep relative to an 8-point line, suggesting the market has more conviction in an Indiana win than the spread alone conveys. At a 48 total, this is a middling number for the slate, which puts more weight on the spread than the total as the number worth scrutinizing.
Texas A&M Aggies at Missouri Tigers
NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Tigers -3.5 · O/U 49.5 · ML Aggies +150 / Tigers -175
Missouri -3.5 is another game built around the most contested margin in football, so Texas A&M covering means either winning outright or losing by exactly three, with no push risk built into the half point. The -175 moneyline leans moderately toward Missouri winning straight up. At 49.5, the total sits almost dead center for this slate, which makes it a less distinctive number than the spread and leaves the side as the more worthwhile number to dig into.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons at NC State Wolfpack
NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Deacons -3.5 · O/U 57.5 · ML Deacons -166 / Wolfpack +142
Wake Forest -3.5 again clears the 3-point threshold, so NC State's path to a backdoor cover requires finding points late rather than settling for a push. The -166 moneyline implies a fairly short favorite despite the number straddling a key margin. What separates this one is the 57.5 total, among the highest on the card, suggesting the market expects consistent scoring from both sides rather than a field-position battle. That makes the total arguably more interesting than the spread here.
North Carolina Tar Heels at Pittsburgh Panthers
NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Panthers -3.5 · O/U 47 · ML Heels +153 / Panthers -179
Pittsburgh -3.5 sits on the same key number as several other games this week, meaning North Carolina covering requires a backdoor score rather than hoping for a push at exactly three. The -179 moneyline is a bit steeper than a 3.5-point line typically commands, hinting the market gives Pittsburgh more weight to win outright than the spread alone suggests. At 47, the total is on the lower end of the slate, which puts the side ahead of the total as the sharper number to study.
UCF Knights at Oklahoma State Cowboys
NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Cowboys -10 · O/U 53.5 · ML Knights +320 / Cowboys -425
Oklahoma State -10 falls between the common 7 and 14 margins, so there's no single key number governing the backdoor math here, UCF simply needs to keep the gap under double digits. The -425 moneyline signals a heavy favorite independent of the spread's size. At 53.5, the total is on the higher side for this slate, suggesting the market expects both offenses to produce, which makes the total a reasonable secondary look alongside the double-digit spread.
Ball State Cardinals at Northwestern Wildcats
NCAAF · Sat 12:30 PM ET · Wildcats -35.5 · O/U 53 · ML Cardinals +3500 / Wildcats -20000
At -35.5, Northwestern's spread and a -20000 moneyline leave almost no argument on the side, Ball State's only realistic betting interest is whether the final margin lands above or below that number. The total of 53 becomes the more relevant question on this one, since it determines whether Northwestern's margin comes from a high-scoring game or a lopsided, lower-possession one. With a gap this wide, the total carries essentially all the analytical weight here.
South Carolina Gamecocks at Florida Gators
NCAAF · Sat 12:45 PM ET · Gators -11 · O/U 58.5 · ML Gamecocks +355 / Gators -465
Florida -11 and a -465 moneyline put this firmly in blowout territory, where South Carolina's side case is really a question of whether the final margin stays under 11 rather than a competitive outcome. The total at 58.5 is one of the higher numbers on the slate, which suggests the market expects this margin to be built through scoring volume rather than defense. With the side this lopsided, the total is the more worthwhile number to break down.
Old Dominion Monarchs at Appalachian State Mountaineers
NCAAF · Sat 1:00 PM ET · Mountaineers -10 · O/U 47.5 · ML Monarchs +296 / Mountaineers -375
Appalachian State -10 and a -375 moneyline frame this as a clear favorite spot, with Old Dominion's side case resting on keeping the final margin under double digits rather than threatening to win outright. The total at 47.5 is middling for the slate, which puts it in a supporting role rather than the headline number. Given the gap in the side price, the spread remains the more direct number to evaluate here, with the total serving mainly as a secondary check.
Rice Owls at East Carolina Pirates
NCAAF · Sat 1:00 PM ET · Pirates -10 · O/U 46.5 · ML Owls +303 / Pirates -380
The books have Pirates at -10, which is a two-score price and therefore a bet on margin rather than on outcome. The total is 46.5, and on a game priced this lopsided it is the number carrying most of the information: it tells you whether the market expects the favourite to bury this or grind it out. Moneyline consensus is Owls +303 / Pirates -380. Whatever you make of it, shop the number before 1:00 PM ET; a half point here is worth more than most opinions about the game.
Miami (OH) RedHawks at UMass Minutemen
NCAAF · Sat 2:00 PM ET · RedHawks -4.5 · O/U 44.5 · ML RedHawks -195 / Minutemen +164
RedHawks -4.5 is a real but containable edge — the market expects them to win without expecting the game to stop being a game. 44.5 is the posted total. Comparing it against what you think the game looks like is usually a cleaner decision than picking a side this close. Moneyline consensus is RedHawks -195 / Minutemen +164. The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 2:00 PM ET rather than assuming they match.
Eastern Michigan Eagles at Akron Zips
NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Eagles -5.5 · O/U 52 · ML Eagles -213 / Zips +180
The number on Eagles is -5.5, which prices a clear advantage rather than a mismatch, and leaves the underdog live in the fourth quarter. The market has priced 52 points into this one, which is the number to start from if the side is too close to call. Moneyline consensus is Eagles -213 / Zips +180. Prices move up to 3:30 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.
Buffalo Bulls at Toledo Rockets
NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Rockets -19 · O/U 55.5 · ML Bulls +754 / Rockets -1200
-19 on Rockets is the market expecting this to be decided early, which makes the total the more informative of the two prices here. The total is 55.5, and on a game priced this lopsided it is the number carrying most of the information: it tells you whether the market expects the favourite to bury this or grind it out. Moneyline consensus is Bulls +754 / Rockets -1200. None of that is a recommendation — it is what the price implies. Check the current number before 3:30 PM ET and decide from there.
Virginia Tech Hokies at California Golden Bears
NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Hokies -10 · O/U 53 · ML Hokies -375 / Bears +295
At -10, Hokies is being priced to win by two scores, and a number that size shifts the interesting question from who wins to whether Bears keeps it respectable. With the side this clear, 53 is the number worth arguing about — it is the market's estimate of the shape of the game rather than its winner. Moneyline consensus is Hokies -375 / Bears +295. Whether that reads cheap or expensive is your call to make against your own book before 3:30 PM ET.
Charlotte 49ers at North Texas Mean Green
NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Green -28.5 · O/U 58 · ML 49ers +1750 / Green -6000
A -28.5 spread says the books see a mismatch. At that size the side is rarely the useful bet; what the total implies about the shape of the game usually is. The total is 58, and on a game priced this lopsided it is the number carrying most of the information: it tells you whether the market expects the favourite to bury this or grind it out. Moneyline consensus is 49ers +1750 / Green -6000. Whatever you make of it, shop the number before 3:30 PM ET; a half point here is worth more than most opinions about the game.
Duke Blue Devils at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Devils -6.5 · O/U 44.5 · ML Devils -250 / Jackets +203
Devils -6.5 is a real but containable edge — the market expects them to win without expecting the game to stop being a game. Totals are where a close game gets interesting, and this one is posted at 44.5. Moneyline consensus is Devils -250 / Jackets +203. This one straddles 7, football's second-biggest margin cluster, so the half point is worth chasing across books. The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 3:30 PM ET rather than assuming they match.
Houston Cougars at Kansas State Wildcats
NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Wildcats -2.5 · O/U 55 · ML Cougars +115 / Wildcats -137
-2.5 on Wildcats is a lean, not a verdict: the market is telling you it expects Cougars to be within a score of this at the end. The total sits at 55, which is the faster read on this game than the side: it says how much scoring the market has priced in before you form your own view. Moneyline consensus is Cougars +115 / Wildcats -137. The number sits beside 3, the most common football margin, which makes shopping for the better side of that half point the whole decision. Prices move up to 3:30 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.
Illinois Fighting Illini at Michigan State Spartans
NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Illini -2.5 · O/U 48 · ML Illini -137 / Spartans +115
Illini is only -2.5 against Spartans, which is the market saying it expects a one-score game and leaning barely at all. 48 is the posted total. Comparing it against what you think the game looks like is usually a cleaner decision than picking a side this close. Moneyline consensus is Illini -137 / Spartans +115. The number sits beside 3, the most common football margin, which makes shopping for the better side of that half point the whole decision. None of that is a recommendation — it is what the price implies. Check the current number before 3:30 PM ET and decide from there.
Kent State Golden Flashes at Western Michigan Broncos
NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Broncos -13.5 · O/U 43.5 · ML Flashes +436 / Broncos -600
A -13.5 spread says the books see a mismatch. At that size the side is rarely the useful bet; what the total implies about the shape of the game usually is. With the side this clear, 43.5 is the number worth arguing about — it is the market's estimate of the shape of the game rather than its winner. Moneyline consensus is Flashes +436 / Broncos -600. Whether that reads cheap or expensive is your call to make against your own book before 3:30 PM ET.
Written reads cover the 24 games closest to a pick'em, where a half point of value is worth the most. The remaining 22 games on today's slate are on the full board above with consensus numbers.
How To Read Today's College Football Numbers
College football's defining feature is dispersion. The gap between the best and worst teams on any Saturday is far wider than anything the NFL produces, and that changes how every number should be read.
- Big spreads are not automatically wrong. A 31-point favourite can be correctly priced, and betting dogs on principle is a losing strategy. What matters is whether the number matches the talent gap, which is what power ratings are for.
- Totals run high and move hard. Tempo differences between programmes are enormous, and a total in the 60s tells you about pace as much as quality.
- Limits are lower, so numbers are softer. Books cannot price a hundred and thirty teams as tightly as thirty-two, and the gap between two books on the same game is routinely a full point or more. This is the sport where shopping earns the most.
- Motivation is real but overused. Look-ahead spots and letdowns exist; they are also the most over-narrated angle in the sport. Treat them as a tiebreaker, never as a thesis.
Why College Numbers Are Softer Than The NFL's
| Factor | NFL | College football |
|---|---|---|
| Teams to price | 32 | 130+ |
| Games per week | ~16 | 60+ |
| Betting limits | Very high | Lower, especially off-brand games |
| Public attention | Every game | Concentrated on ~10 games |
| Book-to-book gaps | Half a point | A point or more |
| Roster turnover | Moderate | Extreme year to year |
The consequence: the profitable college work is usually in games nobody is talking about, and the least profitable is in the one game everybody is. College totals covers the market where that gap is widest.
What Makes Today's Card
Same bar as every other sport: a measurable difference between our number and the market's, larger than the cost of getting on. In college football that difference shows up more often, so the card is longer here than it is in the NFL — and the sizing is deliberately not larger, because the variance is.
Bowl season and the playoff get their own treatment on bowl games and playoff betting, since layoff and motivation genuinely dominate those spots. The record is published either way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the odds on this page still available to bet?
No. Every spread, total and price here is the market snapshot captured on October 10, 2026, the day this edition published. The games have been played and the numbers are a historical record. For the current board see college football picks today.
Why keep old editions online?
Because a service that deletes its old boards is asking to be taken on trust. Keeping each edition exactly as it published means the numbers we posted before the games can be checked against what happened after them, and the graded plays are totalled on the records page whether the month was good or bad.
Were the plays on this card graded?
Plays are graded once the games finish, and the result is shown on the card above — win, loss or push. A play still marked pending on an old edition is one that has not been settled yet; it is never removed. Past results do not predict future results.
