College Football Picks Today — October 17, 2026

Updated October 17, 2026 · Money Maverick Sports

52 games on the College Football board for Saturday, October 17, 2026. 7 of them are priced inside three points, which is where a half point of line shopping is worth the most. The tightest number on the board is Rebels @ Falcons at -0.5 — a coin flip the market cannot separate. Totals average 50.7 across the slate. Every number below is the median across US books at publication, not one sportsbook's opinion — treat it as the market and compare it to the price in front of you.

Archived edition — market snapshot from Saturday, October 17, 2026. Every spread, total and price on this page is the number that was on the board when this edition published on that date. It is a historical record: the games have been played, the prices are not current, and nothing here is available to bet. For the live slate see college football picks today.

The Card On Oct 17

College football is the softest major market in American betting, because a hundred and thirty teams is more than any book can price precisely and far more than the public watches.

Game-By-Game Previews

How these previews are written

Each read below is drafted by our preview engine from the consensus numbers on this board and nothing else, then filtered before publication: it cannot cite an injury, a record or a statistic, because it is not given any, and language that promises a result is rejected outright. They are a starting point for your own handicapping, not a substitute for it. The plays we actually stake are on the card above.

Every number quoted in these reads is the one that was on the board on October 17, 2026. Nothing here has been revised with hindsight, and nothing here reflects the current market.

Florida Atlantic Owls at Army Black Knights

Card focus

NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Knights -2 · O/U 55 · ML Owls +106 / Knights -128

Knights is only -2 against Owls, which is the market saying it expects a one-score game and leaning barely at all. 55 is the posted total. Comparing it against what you think the game looks like is usually a cleaner decision than picking a side this close. Moneyline consensus is Owls +106 / Knights -128. The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 12:00 PM ET rather than assuming they match.

Cincinnati Bearcats at West Virginia Mountaineers

Card focus

NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Mountaineers -1.5 · O/U 63.5 · ML Bearcats +102 / Mountaineers -121

Mountaineers is only -1.5 against Bearcats, which is the market saying it expects a one-score game and leaning barely at all. 63.5 is the posted total. Comparing it against what you think the game looks like is usually a cleaner decision than picking a side this close. Moneyline consensus is Bearcats +102 / Mountaineers -121. Compare this against your own book before 12:00 PM ET — the price you actually get is the only one that pays.

UNLV Rebels at Air Force Falcons

Card focus

NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Falcons -0.5 · O/U 48 · ML Rebels -109 / Falcons -111

A -0.5 price on Falcons puts this inside a single score, and games priced this close are where a half point is worth the most of anywhere on the board. The market has priced 48 points into this one, which is the number to start from if the side is too close to call. Moneyline consensus is Rebels -109 / Falcons -111. Whatever you make of it, shop the number before 3:30 PM ET; a half point here is worth more than most opinions about the game.

Ball State Cardinals at Bowling Green Falcons

NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Falcons -6.5 · O/U 47 · ML Cardinals +198 / Falcons -242

The number on Falcons is -6.5, which prices a clear advantage rather than a mismatch, and leaves the underdog live in the fourth quarter. The market has priced 47 points into this one, which is the number to start from if the side is too close to call. Moneyline consensus is Cardinals +198 / Falcons -242. This one straddles 7, football's second-biggest margin cluster, so the half point is worth chasing across books. Prices move up to 12:00 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.

Pittsburgh Panthers at Boston College Eagles

NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Panthers -6.5 · O/U 42.5 · ML Panthers -230 / Eagles +191

At -6.5, Panthers is favoured by more than a field goal and less than a comfortable margin, which is the range where the total and the side inform each other most. Totals are where a close game gets interesting, and this one is posted at 42.5. Moneyline consensus is Panthers -230 / Eagles +191. This one straddles 7, football's second-biggest margin cluster, so the half point is worth chasing across books. None of that is a recommendation — it is what the price implies. Check the current number before 12:00 PM ET and decide from there.

Charleston Southern Buccaneers at Clemson Tigers

NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Tigers -43.5 · O/U 57.5

A -43.5 spread says the books see a mismatch. At that size the side is rarely the useful bet; what the total implies about the shape of the game usually is. With the side this clear, 57.5 is the number worth arguing about — it is the market's estimate of the shape of the game rather than its winner. Whether that reads cheap or expensive is your call to make against your own book before 12:00 PM ET.

Florida Gators at Texas Longhorns

NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Longhorns -11 · O/U 51.5 · ML Gators +336 / Longhorns -450

The books have Longhorns at -11, which is a two-score price and therefore a bet on margin rather than on outcome. The total is 51.5, and on a game priced this lopsided it is the number carrying most of the information: it tells you whether the market expects the favourite to bury this or grind it out. Moneyline consensus is Gators +336 / Longhorns -450. Whatever you make of it, shop the number before 12:00 PM ET; a half point here is worth more than most opinions about the game.

Georgia State Panthers at James Madison Dukes

NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Dukes -9.5 · O/U 58.5 · ML Panthers +290 / Dukes -360

At -9.5, Dukes is being priced to win by two scores, and a number that size shifts the interesting question from who wins to whether Panthers keeps it respectable. With the side this clear, 58.5 is the number worth arguing about — it is the market's estimate of the shape of the game rather than its winner. Moneyline consensus is Panthers +290 / Dukes -360. The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 12:00 PM ET rather than assuming they match.

Ohio State Buckeyes at Indiana Hoosiers

NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Buckeyes -3 · O/U 50.5 · ML Buckeyes -160 / Hoosiers +134

-3 on Buckeyes is a lean, not a verdict: the market is telling you it expects Hoosiers to be within a score of this at the end. The total sits at 50.5, which is the faster read on this game than the side: it says how much scoring the market has priced in before you form your own view. Moneyline consensus is Buckeyes -160 / Hoosiers +134. The number is parked on 3, the single most common NFL and college margin, so buying or selling that half point matters more here than anywhere else on the board. Prices move up to 12:00 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.

Kansas Jayhawks at Kansas State Wildcats

NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Wildcats -3.5 · O/U 55.5 · ML Jayhawks +145 / Wildcats -175

At -3.5, Wildcats is favoured by more than a field goal and less than a comfortable margin, which is the range where the total and the side inform each other most. 55.5 is the posted total. Comparing it against what you think the game looks like is usually a cleaner decision than picking a side this close. Moneyline consensus is Jayhawks +145 / Wildcats -175. The number sits beside 3, the most common football margin, which makes shopping for the better side of that half point the whole decision. None of that is a recommendation — it is what the price implies. Check the current number before 12:00 PM ET and decide from there.

Mississippi State Bulldogs at LSU Tigers

NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Tigers -17.5 · O/U 56 · ML Bulldogs +580 / Tigers -880

A -17.5 spread says the books see a mismatch. At that size the side is rarely the useful bet; what the total implies about the shape of the game usually is. With the side this clear, 56 is the number worth arguing about — it is the market's estimate of the shape of the game rather than its winner. Moneyline consensus is Bulldogs +580 / Tigers -880. Whether that reads cheap or expensive is your call to make against your own book before 12:00 PM ET.

Northwestern Wildcats at Michigan State Spartans

NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Wildcats -7 · O/U 49.5 · ML Wildcats -295 / Spartans +240

The number on Wildcats is -7, which prices a clear advantage rather than a mismatch, and leaves the underdog live in the fourth quarter. Totals are where a close game gets interesting, and this one is posted at 49.5. Moneyline consensus is Wildcats -295 / Spartans +240. Seven is the second-largest cluster in football margins, so a half point either side of this number is worth real win probability. Compare this against your own book before 12:00 PM ET — the price you actually get is the only one that pays.

Virginia Cavaliers at SMU Mustangs

NCAAF · Sat 12:00 PM ET · Mustangs -9.5 · O/U 51.5 · ML Cavaliers +280 / Mustangs -350

The books have Mustangs at -9.5, which is a two-score price and therefore a bet on margin rather than on outcome. The total is 51.5, and on a game priced this lopsided it is the number carrying most of the information: it tells you whether the market expects the favourite to bury this or grind it out. Moneyline consensus is Cavaliers +280 / Mustangs -350. Whatever you make of it, shop the number before 12:00 PM ET; a half point here is worth more than most opinions about the game.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Maryland Terrapins

NCAAF · Sat 12:30 PM ET · Terrapins -5.5 · O/U 56.5 · ML Knights +175 / Terrapins -210

Terrapins -5.5 is a real but containable edge — the market expects them to win without expecting the game to stop being a game. 56.5 is the posted total. Comparing it against what you think the game looks like is usually a cleaner decision than picking a side this close. Moneyline consensus is Knights +175 / Terrapins -210. The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 12:30 PM ET rather than assuming they match.

UMass Minutemen at Buffalo Bulls

NCAAF · Sat 1:00 PM ET · Bulls -7 · O/U 42.5 · ML Minutemen +230 / Bulls -280

The number on Bulls is -7, which prices a clear advantage rather than a mismatch, and leaves the underdog live in the fourth quarter. The market has priced 42.5 points into this one, which is the number to start from if the side is too close to call. Moneyline consensus is Minutemen +230 / Bulls -280. Seven is the second-largest cluster in football margins, so a half point either side of this number is worth real win probability. Prices move up to 1:00 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.

Charlotte 49ers at Temple Owls

NCAAF · Sat 1:00 PM ET · Owls -20 · O/U 46.5 · ML 49ers +950 / Owls -1700

-20 on Owls is the market expecting this to be decided early, which makes the total the more informative of the two prices here. The total is 46.5, and on a game priced this lopsided it is the number carrying most of the information: it tells you whether the market expects the favourite to bury this or grind it out. Moneyline consensus is 49ers +950 / Owls -1700. None of that is a recommendation — it is what the price implies. Check the current number before 1:00 PM ET and decide from there.

Citadel Bulldogs at Texas A&M Aggies

NCAAF · Sat 1:00 PM ET · Aggies -45.5 · O/U 57.5

A -45.5 spread says the books see a mismatch. At that size the side is rarely the useful bet; what the total implies about the shape of the game usually is. With the side this clear, 57.5 is the number worth arguing about — it is the market's estimate of the shape of the game rather than its winner. Whether that reads cheap or expensive is your call to make against your own book before 1:00 PM ET.

Western Michigan Broncos at Central Michigan Chippewas

NCAAF · Sat 1:30 PM ET · Broncos -7 · O/U 43 · ML Broncos -262 / Chippewas +215

The number on Broncos is -7, which prices a clear advantage rather than a mismatch, and leaves the underdog live in the fourth quarter. 43 is the posted total. Comparing it against what you think the game looks like is usually a cleaner decision than picking a side this close. Moneyline consensus is Broncos -262 / Chippewas +215. Seven is the second-largest cluster in football margins, so a half point either side of this number is worth real win probability. Compare this against your own book before 1:30 PM ET — the price you actually get is the only one that pays.

Akron Zips at Miami (OH) RedHawks

NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · RedHawks -10 · O/U 46.5 · ML Zips +285 / RedHawks -362

At -10, RedHawks is being priced to win by two scores, and a number that size shifts the interesting question from who wins to whether Zips keeps it respectable. With the side this clear, 46.5 is the number worth arguing about — it is the market's estimate of the shape of the game rather than its winner. Moneyline consensus is Zips +285 / RedHawks -362. The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 3:30 PM ET rather than assuming they match.

Alabama Crimson Tide at Tennessee Volunteers

NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Tide -7.5 · O/U 51 · ML Tide -330 / Volunteers +260

Tide -7.5 is a two-score expectation. Prices this long are usually more about how the favourite finishes than whether it leads. A total of 51 beside a spread this size is the market describing pace as much as strength; that is the half of the price still open to disagreement. Moneyline consensus is Tide -330 / Volunteers +260. This one straddles 7, football's second-biggest margin cluster, so the half point is worth chasing across books. Prices move up to 3:30 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.

Arizona State Sun Devils at Texas Tech Red Raiders

NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Raiders -15.5 · O/U 50 · ML Devils +500 / Raiders -700

-15.5 on Raiders is the market expecting this to be decided early, which makes the total the more informative of the two prices here. The total is 50, and on a game priced this lopsided it is the number carrying most of the information: it tells you whether the market expects the favourite to bury this or grind it out. Moneyline consensus is Devils +500 / Raiders -700. None of that is a recommendation — it is what the price implies. Check the current number before 3:30 PM ET and decide from there.

Auburn Tigers at Georgia Bulldogs

NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Bulldogs -19.5 · O/U 49.5 · ML Tigers +817 / Bulldogs -1350

A -19.5 spread says the books see a mismatch. At that size the side is rarely the useful bet; what the total implies about the shape of the game usually is. With the side this clear, 49.5 is the number worth arguing about — it is the market's estimate of the shape of the game rather than its winner. Moneyline consensus is Tigers +817 / Bulldogs -1350. Whether that reads cheap or expensive is your call to make against your own book before 3:30 PM ET.

North Carolina Tar Heels at Duke Blue Devils

NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Devils -3 · O/U 46.5 · ML Heels +131 / Devils -155

The consensus has Devils -3, a margin narrow enough that the difference between books matters more than the difference between the teams. Totals are where a close game gets interesting, and this one is posted at 46.5. Moneyline consensus is Heels +131 / Devils -155. The number is parked on 3, the single most common NFL and college margin, so buying or selling that half point matters more here than anywhere else on the board. Compare this against your own book before 3:30 PM ET — the price you actually get is the only one that pays.

Toledo Rockets at Eastern Michigan Eagles

NCAAF · Sat 3:30 PM ET · Rockets -6.5 · O/U 52.5 · ML Rockets -250 / Eagles +200

At -6.5, Rockets is favoured by more than a field goal and less than a comfortable margin, which is the range where the total and the side inform each other most. The total sits at 52.5, which is the faster read on this game than the side: it says how much scoring the market has priced in before you form your own view. Moneyline consensus is Rockets -250 / Eagles +200. This one straddles 7, football's second-biggest margin cluster, so the half point is worth chasing across books. Whatever you make of it, shop the number before 3:30 PM ET; a half point here is worth more than most opinions about the game.

Written reads cover the 24 games closest to a pick'em, where a half point of value is worth the most. The remaining 28 games on today's slate are on the full board above with consensus numbers.

How To Read Today's College Football Numbers

College football's defining feature is dispersion. The gap between the best and worst teams on any Saturday is far wider than anything the NFL produces, and that changes how every number should be read.

  • Big spreads are not automatically wrong. A 31-point favourite can be correctly priced, and betting dogs on principle is a losing strategy. What matters is whether the number matches the talent gap, which is what power ratings are for.
  • Totals run high and move hard. Tempo differences between programmes are enormous, and a total in the 60s tells you about pace as much as quality.
  • Limits are lower, so numbers are softer. Books cannot price a hundred and thirty teams as tightly as thirty-two, and the gap between two books on the same game is routinely a full point or more. This is the sport where shopping earns the most.
  • Motivation is real but overused. Look-ahead spots and letdowns exist; they are also the most over-narrated angle in the sport. Treat them as a tiebreaker, never as a thesis.

Why College Numbers Are Softer Than The NFL's

What makes an FBS market easier to attack than an NFL one.
FactorNFLCollege football
Teams to price32130+
Games per week~1660+
Betting limitsVery highLower, especially off-brand games
Public attentionEvery gameConcentrated on ~10 games

The consequence: the profitable college work is usually in games nobody is talking about, and the least profitable is in the one game everybody is. College totals covers the market where that gap is widest.

What Makes Today's Card

Same bar as every other sport: a measurable difference between our number and the market's, larger than the cost of getting on. In college football that difference shows up more often, so the card is longer here than it is in the NFL — and the sizing is deliberately not larger, because the variance is.

Bowl season and the playoff get their own treatment on bowl games and playoff betting, since layoff and motivation genuinely dominate those spots. The record is published either way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the odds on this page still available to bet?

No. Every spread, total and price here is the market snapshot captured on October 17, 2026, the day this edition published. The games have been played and the numbers are a historical record. For the current board see college football picks today.

Why keep old editions online?

Because a service that deletes its old boards is asking to be taken on trust. Keeping each edition exactly as it published means the numbers we posted before the games can be checked against what happened after them, and the graded plays are totalled on the records page whether the month was good or bad.

Were the plays on this card graded?

Plays are graded once the games finish, and the result is shown on the card above — win, loss or push. A play still marked pending on an old edition is one that has not been settled yet; it is never removed. Past results do not predict future results.
