Updated September 13, 2026 · Money Maverick Sports
27 games on the Best Bets board for Sunday, September 13, 2026 across NCAAF, MLB, NFL. 20 of them are priced inside three points, which is where a half point of line shopping is worth the most. The tightest number on the board is Jets @ Titans at -1 — a coin flip the market cannot separate. Totals average 27.6 across the slate. Every number below is the median across US books at publication, not one sportsbook's opinion — treat it as the market and compare it to the price in front of you.
Numbers below are the median across 11 US sportsbooks surveyed when this edition published, not one book's opinion. Lines move all day — confirm the current price at your own book before betting, and read line shopping for why the half point you give away is the most expensive habit in betting.
Today's Card
A best bet is not the game we like most. It is the game where the gap between our number and the market's is largest relative to what it costs to get on.
Today's graded plays have not been published on this page. Members receive the full card — every play, the write-up behind it and the recommended unit sizing — before the numbers move, and every result is posted publicly afterwards on the records page whether it won or lost.

Game-By-Game Previews
Each read below is drafted by our preview engine from the consensus numbers on this board and nothing else, then filtered before publication: it cannot cite an injury, a record or a statistic, because it is not given any, and language that promises a result is rejected outright. They are a starting point for your own handicapping, not a substitute for it. The plays we actually stake are on the card above.
Colorado Rockies at Detroit Tigers
Card focus
MLB · Sun 12:11 PM ET · Tigers -1.5 · O/U 8.5 · ML Rockies +130 / Tigers -155
A -1.5 price on Tigers puts this inside a single score, and games priced this close are where a half point is worth the most of anywhere on the board. The market has priced 8.5 points into this one, which is the number to start from if the side is too close to call. Moneyline consensus is Rockies +130 / Tigers -155. Prices move up to 12:11 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.
Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans
Card focus
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Bills -1.5 · O/U 44.5 · ML Bills -118 / Texans -103
Bills is only -1.5 against Texans, which is the market saying it expects a one-score game and leaning barely at all. 44.5 is the posted total. Comparing it against what you think the game looks like is usually a cleaner decision than picking a side this close. Moneyline consensus is Bills -118 / Texans -103. Compare this against your own book before 1:00 PM ET — the price you actually get is the only one that pays.
New York Jets at Tennessee Titans
Card focus
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Titans -1 · O/U 38.5 · ML Jets +100 / Titans -119
A -1 price on Titans puts this inside a single score, and games priced this close are where a half point is worth the most of anywhere on the board. The market has priced 38.5 points into this one, which is the number to start from if the side is too close to call. Moneyline consensus is Jets +100 / Titans -119. Whether that reads cheap or expensive is your call to make against your own book before 1:00 PM ET.
Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves
Card focus
MLB · Sun 1:36 PM ET · Braves -1.5 · O/U 9 · ML Phillies +110 / Braves -128
The consensus has Braves -1.5, a margin narrow enough that the difference between books matters more than the difference between the teams. Totals are where a close game gets interesting, and this one is posted at 9. Moneyline consensus is Phillies +110 / Braves -128. Compare this against your own book before 1:36 PM ET — the price you actually get is the only one that pays.
New Mexico State Aggies at Hawaii Rainbow Warriors
NCAAF · Sun 12:05 AM ET · Warriors -3.5 · O/U 54.5 · ML Aggies +250 / Warriors -350
Warriors -3.5 is a real but containable edge — the market expects them to win without expecting the game to stop being a game. 54.5 is the posted total. Comparing it against what you think the game looks like is usually a cleaner decision than picking a side this close. Moneyline consensus is Aggies +250 / Warriors -350. The number sits beside 3, the most common football margin, which makes shopping for the better side of that half point the whole decision. The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 12:05 AM ET rather than assuming they match.
Atlanta Falcons at Pittsburgh Steelers
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Steelers -6 · O/U 41 · ML Falcons +235 / Steelers -290
At -6, Steelers is favoured by more than a field goal and less than a comfortable margin, which is the range where the total and the side inform each other most. Totals are where a close game gets interesting, and this one is posted at 41. Moneyline consensus is Falcons +235 / Steelers -290. None of that is a recommendation — it is what the price implies. Check the current number before 1:00 PM ET and decide from there.
Baltimore Ravens at Indianapolis Colts
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Ravens -3 · O/U 48 · ML Ravens -170 / Colts +144
-3 on Ravens is a lean, not a verdict: the market is telling you it expects Colts to be within a score of this at the end. The total sits at 48, which is the faster read on this game than the side: it says how much scoring the market has priced in before you form your own view. Moneyline consensus is Ravens -170 / Colts +144. The number is parked on 3, the single most common NFL and college margin, so buying or selling that half point matters more here than anywhere else on the board. Whether that reads cheap or expensive is your call to make against your own book before 1:00 PM ET.
Chicago Bears at Carolina Panthers
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Bears -3 · O/U 47 · ML Bears -170 / Panthers +140
A -3 price on Bears puts this inside a single score, and games priced this close are where a half point is worth the most of anywhere on the board. The market has priced 47 points into this one, which is the number to start from if the side is too close to call. Moneyline consensus is Bears -170 / Panthers +140. The number is parked on 3, the single most common NFL and college margin, so buying or selling that half point matters more here than anywhere else on the board. Whatever you make of it, shop the number before 1:00 PM ET; a half point here is worth more than most opinions about the game.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Cincinnati Bengals
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Bengals -3.5 · O/U 50.5 · ML Buccaneers +175 / Bengals -205
Bengals -3.5 is a real but containable edge — the market expects them to win without expecting the game to stop being a game. Totals are where a close game gets interesting, and this one is posted at 50.5. Moneyline consensus is Buccaneers +175 / Bengals -205. The number sits beside 3, the most common football margin, which makes shopping for the better side of that half point the whole decision. The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 1:00 PM ET rather than assuming they match.
Cleveland Browns at Jacksonville Jaguars
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Jaguars -9 · O/U 40 · ML Browns +320 / Jaguars -420
Jaguars -9 is a two-score expectation. Prices this long are usually more about how the favourite finishes than whether it leads. A total of 40 beside a spread this size is the market describing pace as much as strength; that is the half of the price still open to disagreement. Moneyline consensus is Browns +320 / Jaguars -420. Prices move up to 1:00 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.
New Orleans Saints at Detroit Lions
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Lions -7 · O/U 50 · ML Saints +260 / Lions -325
At -7, Lions is favoured by more than a field goal and less than a comfortable margin, which is the range where the total and the side inform each other most. 50 is the posted total. Comparing it against what you think the game looks like is usually a cleaner decision than picking a side this close. Moneyline consensus is Saints +260 / Lions -325. Seven is the second-largest cluster in football margins, so a half point either side of this number is worth real win probability. None of that is a recommendation — it is what the price implies. Check the current number before 1:00 PM ET and decide from there.
Los Angeles Angels at Washington Nationals
MLB · Sun 1:36 PM ET · Nationals -1.5 · O/U 9 · ML Angels +103 / Nationals -120
-1.5 on Nationals is a lean, not a verdict: the market is telling you it expects Angels to be within a score of this at the end. The total sits at 9, which is the faster read on this game than the side: it says how much scoring the market has priced in before you form your own view. Moneyline consensus is Angels +103 / Nationals -120. Whatever you make of it, shop the number before 1:36 PM ET; a half point here is worth more than most opinions about the game.

The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 1:36 PM ET rather than assuming they match.
Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays
MLB · Sun 1:38 PM ET · Jays -1.5 · O/U 7.5 · ML Orioles +130 / Jays -152
A -1.5 price on Jays puts this inside a single score, and games priced this close are where a half point is worth the most of anywhere on the board. The market has priced 7.5 points into this one, which is the number to start from if the side is too close to call. Moneyline consensus is Orioles +130 / Jays -152. Prices move up to 1:38 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.

Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Chargers
NFL · Sun 4:25 PM ET · Chargers -9.5 · O/U 47 · ML Cardinals +390 / Chargers -505
At -9.5, Chargers is being priced to win by two scores, and a number that size shifts the interesting question from who wins to whether Cardinals keeps it respectable. With the side this clear, 47 is the number worth arguing about — it is the market's estimate of the shape of the game rather than its winner. Moneyline consensus is Cardinals +390 / Chargers -505. Whether that reads cheap or expensive is your call to make against your own book before 4:25 PM ET.
Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings

What Makes A Play A Best Bet
The phrase is used loosely everywhere, so here is the specific test a play has to pass to reach this page's card.
- A priced disagreement. Our number on the game differs from the market's by more than the vig we pay to get on. No disagreement, no play, however attractive the matchup.
- A reason that existed before the number. A schedule spot, a pace mismatch, a pitching edge, a key-number position. If the reasoning was constructed to justify a number we already liked, it is not a reason.
- A price still available. An edge that has already been bet away by the time you read it is not an edge. That is why the card ships early and why closing line value is the honest scorecard.
- A size that fits. A larger edge earns a second unit. It does not earn a bankroll. See unit sizing.
Parlays built for payout rather than price, "lock of the day" language, and the practice of publishing a best bet every single day regardless of what the board offers. Some days the honest answer is one play, and some days it is none.
How To Compare Prices Across Sports
The board above mixes leagues on purpose, because the question that matters on a mixed slate is not which game you like but which price is best. A -3.5 in the NFL, a -145 in baseball and a 224.5 total in the NBA are all the same kind of object once you convert them.
Convert everything to implied probability and the comparison becomes mechanical: a -145 favourite needs to win 59.2% of the time to break even, so if you think the true number is 63% you have a play, and if you think it is 58% you do not, no matter how confident the write-up sounds. Football spreads need the same treatment against key numbers before they are comparable at all.
The by-sport editions go deeper on each: NFL, NBA, MLB and college football.
What This Page Is Not
It is not a feed of guaranteed winners, and nobody honest sells one. Long-run handicapping at a professional level means winning somewhere in the mid-50s against the spread, which is enough to matter enormously and nothing like enough to be certain about any single game.
It is also not a substitute for your own process. The most valuable thing on this page for a new bettor is the guide list further down, not the card — are sports picks worth it makes that case honestly, including the parts that argue against paying for anything.
Money Maverick Sports publishes analysis and opinion, not predictions of certainty. No play on this page or behind the membership wall is guaranteed. Bet only what you can afford to lose, and if betting has stopped being a choice, call 1-800-GAMBLER.
Before You Bet: The Guides Behind This Card
Nothing on this page beats knowing the mechanics cold. These are the evergreen guides the analysis above assumes, and they do not change when the slate does.
| Guide | What it settles |
|---|---|
| Expected value | The one calculation that defines a best bet. |
| Closing line value | How to judge a play before it settles. |
| Unit sizing | Why a best bet is not automatically a bigger bet. |
| Line shopping | The habit that turns a small edge into a real one. |
| Bankroll management | Surviving the run that tests everything. |
| Choosing a picks service | What to demand before you pay anyone. |
| Record keeping | You cannot improve what you do not log. |
| Responsible gambling | The limits worth setting while you are calm. |
The full library runs to more than fifty pages: betting guides for method, sports betting picks hub for this sport specifically, and the glossary for anything above that needs a definition.
Earlier Editions
Every edition of this page is kept permanently. The numbers stay exactly as they were posted on the morning of the slate, which makes the archive the only honest way to check what a market looked like before the games were played rather than after.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are today's best bets?
The board above lists every game with a consensus number posted for today across the leagues in season, and the previews cover the games the card is built around. The graded plays themselves — with write-ups and recommended unit sizing — go to members, and every result is posted afterwards on the records page.
Is there a best bet every day?
No, and that is deliberate. A card is built from priced disagreements, and some slates do not contain one worth the vig. A service that publishes a best bet every day of the year is publishing on a schedule rather than on merit.
How do I compare a spread to a moneyline?
Convert both to implied probability, then compare each against your own estimate. The implied probability guide has the arithmetic, and it is the single most useful five minutes a new bettor can spend.
Can I see previous days' best bets?
Yes. Every edition of this page is kept permanently in the pick archive, with the numbers as they stood when it published rather than as they look after the fact.
