Every league in season on one board, previews of the games the card is built around, and the standard a play has to clear — refreshed every morning.
Updated November 3, 2026 · Money Maverick Sports
32 games on the Best Bets board for Tuesday, November 3, 2026 across NCAAB, NCAAF, NHL. 11 of them are priced inside three points, which is where a half point of line shopping is worth the most. The tightest number on the board is Avalanche @ Jackets at -1.5 — a one-score game the market leans in only slightly. Totals average 97.1 across the slate. Every number below is the median across US books at publication, not one sportsbook's opinion — treat it as the market and compare it to the price in front of you.
Numbers below are the median across 11 US sportsbooks surveyed when this edition published, not one book's opinion. Lines move all day — confirm the current price at your own book before betting, and read line shopping for why the half point you give away is the most expensive habit in betting.
Today's Card
A best bet is not the game we like most. It is the game where the gap between our number and the market's is largest relative to what it costs to get on.
Ducks @ Canucks
Under 6.5 · 1 unit
Price: +110 · Confidence: 7/10 · Odds: Consensus of 11 · Surveyed: Tue 5:22 AM ET
Under 6.5 breaks even at just 47.62% (the Under's +110), while Over 6.5 needs 57.45% (-135) to break even, a total hold of 5.07% split almost entirely onto the Over side. Splitting that hold evenly would put each side near 52.5%, so Under is being sold roughly five points cheaper than its fair share of the vig while Over is absorbing nearly all of it. For Over to be the correct side, the game would have to clear seven combined goals often enough to justify paying almost 57.5% just to break even, well above what an evenly split hold would ask of it.
Mammoth @ Leafs
Under 6.5 · 1 unit
Price: +110 · Confidence: 6/10 · Odds: Consensus of 11 · Surveyed: Tue 5:22 AM ET
Under 6.5 breaks even at 47.62% (+110) against Over's 56.52% (-130), a 4.14% total hold carried almost entirely by the Over side. An even split of that hold would price both sides near 52.1%, so Under is roughly 4.5 points cheaper than its fair share of the vig. Betting Over at this number means believing the game clears seven combined goals often enough to justify a near 56.5% break-even price, a higher bar than an evenly split hold would set.
Wild @ Flyers
Under 5.5 · 1 unit
Price: +110 · Confidence: 6/10 · Odds: Consensus of 11 · Surveyed: Tue 5:22 AM ET
Under 5.5 breaks even at 47.62% (+110) versus Over's 56.14% (-128), a 3.76% total hold loaded almost entirely onto the Over side. An even split of that hold would put each side near 51.9%, so Under is priced about 4.3 points below its fair share of the vig while Over pays nearly all of it. For Over to be correct, the game needs to produce six combined goals often enough to clear a roughly 56% break-even point, well beyond what an evenly split hold would require.
The free plays above are selected automatically from the consensus numbers on today's board by a model that reasons about those prices and nothing else — it is not given injury news, team form, weather or lineups, and it does not invent them. Each play shows the market it was taken in, the price and consensus it was made at, the minute those numbers were surveyed, and a confidence score. They are published without waiting for a human to approve them, and we edit or remove any play that is wrong. Each one is graded from the final score after the game and keeps its result on this page and in the pick archive, win or lose.
Plays are posted before the numbers move and graded publicly afterwards on the records page. Recommended unit sizing assumes the discipline described in unit sizing. Past results do not predict future results, and no play is a guarantee.

Game-By-Game Previews
Each read below is drafted by our preview engine from the consensus numbers on this board and nothing else, then filtered before publication: it cannot cite an injury, a record or a statistic, because it is not given any, and language that promises a result is rejected outright. They are a starting point for your own handicapping, not a substitute for it. The plays we actually stake are on the card above.
Colorado Avalanche at Columbus Blue Jackets
Card focus
NHL · Tue 7:10 PM ET · Avalanche -1.5 · O/U 6 · ML Avalanche -130 / Jackets +110
A -1.5 price on Avalanche puts this inside a single score, and games priced this close are where a half point is worth the most of anywhere on the board. The market has priced 6 points into this one, which is the number to start from if the side is too close to call. Moneyline consensus is Avalanche -130 / Jackets +110. Whether that reads cheap or expensive is your call to make against your own book before 7:10 PM ET.
Dallas Stars at Washington Capitals
Card focus
NHL · Tue 7:10 PM ET · Capitals -1.5 · O/U 5.5 · ML Stars -108 / Capitals -110
The consensus has Capitals -1.5, a margin narrow enough that the difference between books matters more than the difference between the teams. Totals are where a close game gets interesting, and this one is posted at 5.5. Moneyline consensus is Stars -108 / Capitals -110. Compare this against your own book before 7:10 PM ET — the price you actually get is the only one that pays.
Detroit Red Wings at Tampa Bay Lightning
Card focus
NHL · Tue 7:10 PM ET · Lightning -1.5 · O/U 6 · ML Wings +210 / Lightning -260
-1.5 on Lightning is a lean, not a verdict: the market is telling you it expects Wings to be within a score of this at the end. The total sits at 6, which is the faster read on this game than the side: it says how much scoring the market has priced in before you form your own view. Moneyline consensus is Wings +210 / Lightning -260. Whatever you make of it, shop the number before 7:10 PM ET; a half point here is worth more than most opinions about the game.
Minnesota Wild at Philadelphia Flyers
Card focus
NHL · Tue 7:10 PM ET · Wild -1.5 · O/U 5.5 · ML Wild -175 / Flyers +145
Wild is only -1.5 against Flyers, which is the market saying it expects a one-score game and leaning barely at all. 5.5 is the posted total. Comparing it against what you think the game looks like is usually a cleaner decision than picking a side this close. Moneyline consensus is Wild -175 / Flyers +145. The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 7:10 PM ET rather than assuming they match.
Wofford Terriers at Tennessee Volunteers
NCAAB · Tue 6:00 PM ET · Volunteers -26.5 · O/U 155 · ML Terriers +3500 / Volunteers -20000
-26.5 on Volunteers is the market expecting this to be decided early, which makes the total the more informative of the two prices here. With the side this clear, 155 is the number worth arguing about — it is the market's estimate of the shape of the game rather than its winner. Moneyline consensus is Terriers +3500 / Volunteers -20000. The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 6:00 PM ET rather than assuming they match.
Ohio Bobcats at Akron Zips
NCAAF · Tue 7:00 PM ET · Bobcats -14 · O/U 51 · ML Bobcats -575 / Zips +428
A -14 spread says the books see a mismatch. At that size the side is rarely the useful bet; what the total implies about the shape of the game usually is. A total of 51 beside a spread this size is the market describing pace as much as strength; that is the half of the price still open to disagreement. Moneyline consensus is Bobcats -575 / Zips +428. Prices move up to 7:00 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.
Wagner Seahawks at Boston College Eagles
NCAAB · Tue 7:00 PM ET · Eagles -17 · O/U 147.5 · ML Seahawks +1050 / Eagles -2100
-17 on Eagles is the market expecting this to be decided early, which makes the total the more informative of the two prices here. The total is 147.5, and on a game priced this lopsided it is the number carrying most of the information: it tells you whether the market expects the favourite to bury this or grind it out. Moneyline consensus is Seahawks +1050 / Eagles -2100. None of that is a recommendation — it is what the price implies. Check the current number before 7:00 PM ET and decide from there.
Coppin St Eagles at Virginia Tech Hokies
NCAAB · Tue 7:00 PM ET · Hokies -30.5 · O/U 151.5 · ML Eagles +6150 / Hokies -30000
A -30.5 spread says the books see a mismatch. At that size the side is rarely the useful bet; what the total implies about the shape of the game usually is. With the side this clear, 151.5 is the number worth arguing about — it is the market's estimate of the shape of the game rather than its winner. Moneyline consensus is Eagles +6150 / Hokies -30000. Whether that reads cheap or expensive is your call to make against your own book before 7:00 PM ET.
Fort Wayne Mastodons at Duquesne Dukes
NCAAB · Tue 7:00 PM ET · Dukes -10 · O/U 153.5 · ML Mastodons +380 / Dukes -500
Dukes -10 is a two-score expectation. Prices this long are usually more about how the favourite finishes than whether it leads. A total of 153.5 beside a spread this size is the market describing pace as much as strength; that is the half of the price still open to disagreement. Moneyline consensus is Mastodons +380 / Dukes -500. Compare this against your own book before 7:00 PM ET — the price you actually get is the only one that pays.
Hampton Pirates at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
NCAAB · Tue 7:00 PM ET · Jackets -15 · O/U 149 · ML Pirates +850 / Jackets -1600
A -15 spread says the books see a mismatch. At that size the side is rarely the useful bet; what the total implies about the shape of the game usually is. The total is 149, and on a game priced this lopsided it is the number carrying most of the information: it tells you whether the market expects the favourite to bury this or grind it out. Moneyline consensus is Pirates +850 / Jackets -1600. Whatever you make of it, shop the number before 7:00 PM ET; a half point here is worth more than most opinions about the game.
Holy Cross Crusaders at Rhode Island Rams
NCAAB · Tue 7:00 PM ET · Rams -17.5 · O/U 149.5 · ML Crusaders +1100 / Rams -2500
-17.5 on Rams is the market expecting this to be decided early, which makes the total the more informative of the two prices here. With the side this clear, 149.5 is the number worth arguing about — it is the market's estimate of the shape of the game rather than its winner. Moneyline consensus is Crusaders +1100 / Rams -2500. The board above is the median across US books at publication. Check it against your book before 7:00 PM ET rather than assuming they match.
Manhattan Jaspers at Kentucky Wildcats
NCAAB · Tue 7:00 PM ET · Wildcats -33 · O/U 158.5 · ML Jaspers +10000 / Wildcats -50000
A -33 spread says the books see a mismatch. At that size the side is rarely the useful bet; what the total implies about the shape of the game usually is. A total of 158.5 beside a spread this size is the market describing pace as much as strength; that is the half of the price still open to disagreement. Moneyline consensus is Jaspers +10000 / Wildcats -50000. Prices move up to 7:00 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.
Stetson Hatters at South Carolina Gamecocks
NCAAB · Tue 7:00 PM ET · Gamecocks -16.5 · O/U 149.5 · ML Hatters +950 / Gamecocks -2000
-16.5 on Gamecocks is the market expecting this to be decided early, which makes the total the more informative of the two prices here. The total is 149.5, and on a game priced this lopsided it is the number carrying most of the information: it tells you whether the market expects the favourite to bury this or grind it out. Moneyline consensus is Hatters +950 / Gamecocks -2000. None of that is a recommendation — it is what the price implies. Check the current number before 7:00 PM ET and decide from there.
Winnipeg Jets at Montréal Canadiens
NHL · Tue 7:10 PM ET · Canadiens -1.5 · O/U 6 · ML Jets +160 / Canadiens -192
A -1.5 price on Canadiens puts this inside a single score, and games priced this close are where a half point is worth the most of anywhere on the board. The market has priced 6 points into this one, which is the number to start from if the side is too close to call. Moneyline consensus is Jets +160 / Canadiens -192. Prices move up to 7:10 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.
St Louis Blues at New York Rangers
NHL · Tue 7:10 PM ET · Rangers -1.5 · O/U 6 · ML Blues +102 / Rangers -120
The consensus has Rangers -1.5, a margin narrow enough that the difference between books matters more than the difference between the teams. Totals are where a close game gets interesting, and this one is posted at 6. Moneyline consensus is Blues +102 / Rangers -120. None of that is a recommendation — it is what the price implies. Check the current number before 7:10 PM ET and decide from there.
Vegas Golden Knights at Pittsburgh Penguins
NHL · Tue 7:10 PM ET · Knights -1.5 · O/U 6.5 · ML Knights -110 / Penguins -110
-1.5 on Knights is a lean, not a verdict: the market is telling you it expects Penguins to be within a score of this at the end. The total sits at 6.5, which is the faster read on this game than the side: it says how much scoring the market has priced in before you form your own view. Moneyline consensus is Knights -110 / Penguins -110. Whether that reads cheap or expensive is your call to make against your own book before 7:10 PM ET.
Utah Mammoth at Toronto Maple Leafs

What Makes A Play A Best Bet
The phrase is used loosely everywhere, so here is the specific test a play has to pass to reach this page's card.
- A priced disagreement. Our number on the game differs from the market's by more than the vig we pay to get on. No disagreement, no play, however attractive the matchup.
- A reason that existed before the number. A schedule spot, a pace mismatch, a pitching edge, a key-number position. If the reasoning was constructed to justify a number we already liked, it is not a reason.
- A price still available. An edge that has already been bet away by the time you read it is not an edge. That is why the card ships early and why closing line value is the honest scorecard.
- A size that fits. A larger edge earns a second unit. It does not earn a bankroll. See unit sizing.
Parlays built for payout rather than price, "lock of the day" language, and the practice of publishing a best bet every single day regardless of what the board offers. Some days the honest answer is one play, and some days it is none.
How To Compare Prices Across Sports
The board above mixes leagues on purpose, because the question that matters on a mixed slate is not which game you like but which price is best. A -3.5 in the NFL, a -145 in baseball and a 224.5 total in the NBA are all the same kind of object once you convert them.
Convert everything to implied probability and the comparison becomes mechanical: a -145 favourite needs to win 59.2% of the time to break even, so if you think the true number is 63% you have a play, and if you think it is 58% you do not, no matter how confident the write-up sounds. Football spreads need the same treatment against key numbers before they are comparable at all.
The by-sport editions go deeper on each: NFL, NBA, MLB and college football.
What This Page Is Not
It is not a feed of guaranteed winners, and nobody honest sells one. Long-run handicapping at a professional level means winning somewhere in the mid-50s against the spread, which is enough to matter enormously and nothing like enough to be certain about any single game.
It is also not a substitute for your own process. The most valuable thing on this page for a new bettor is the guide list further down, not the card — are sports picks worth it makes that case honestly, including the parts that argue against paying for anything.
Money Maverick Sports publishes analysis and opinion, not predictions of certainty. No play on this page or behind the membership wall is guaranteed. Bet only what you can afford to lose, and if betting has stopped being a choice, call 1-800-GAMBLER.
Before You Bet: The Guides Behind This Card
Nothing on this page beats knowing the mechanics cold. These are the evergreen guides the analysis above assumes, and they do not change when the slate does.
| Guide | What it settles |
|---|---|
| Expected value | The one calculation that defines a best bet. |
| Closing line value | How to judge a play before it settles. |
| Unit sizing | Why a best bet is not automatically a bigger bet. |
| Line shopping | The habit that turns a small edge into a real one. |
| Bankroll management | Surviving the run that tests everything. |
| Choosing a picks service | What to demand before you pay anyone. |
| Record keeping | You cannot improve what you do not log. |
| Responsible gambling | The limits worth setting while you are calm. |
The full library runs to more than fifty pages: betting guides for method, sports betting picks hub for this sport specifically, and the glossary for anything above that needs a definition.

Every edition of this page is kept permanently. The numbers stay exactly as they were posted on the morning of the slate, which makes the archive the only honest way to check what a market looked like before the games were played rather than after.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are today's best bets?
The board above lists every game with a consensus number posted for today across the leagues in season, and the previews cover the games the card is built around. The graded plays themselves — with write-ups and recommended unit sizing — go to members, and every result is posted afterwards on the records page.
Is there a best bet every day?
No, and that is deliberate. A card is built from priced disagreements, and some slates do not contain one worth the vig. A service that publishes a best bet every day of the year is publishing on a schedule rather than on merit.
How do I compare a spread to a moneyline?
Convert both to implied probability, then compare each against your own estimate. The implied probability guide has the arithmetic, and it is the single most useful five minutes a new bettor can spend.
Can I see previous days' best bets?
Yes. Every edition of this page is kept permanently in the pick archive, with the numbers as they stood when it published rather than as they look after the fact.
