NBA Picks Today: November 2, 2026
Consensus spreads and totals across US books, a read on every game, and the method behind the card — refreshed every morning.
Updated November 2, 2026 · Money Maverick Sports
Monday's NBA board runs from near-coin-flip spreads to two double-digit favorites, New York at -14.5 and San Antonio at -16.5, where the number is really a question of margin rather than winner. Totals sit mostly in the 220s, with Philadelphia-Chicago at 239.5 and Boston-Houston at 219.5 marking the extremes. The side markets price favorites more aggressively than the spreads alone suggest on several of these games.
Numbers below are the median across 11 US sportsbooks surveyed when this edition published, not one book's opinion. Lines move all day — confirm the current price at your own book before betting, and read line shopping for why the half point you give away is the most expensive habit in betting.
Today's Card
The NBA is the most schedule-driven league in American sport. Most of the edge on a given night is in knowing which teams are being asked to do something unreasonable.
Today's graded plays have not been published on this page. Members receive the full card — every play, the write-up behind it and the recommended unit sizing — before the numbers move, and every result is posted publicly afterwards on the records page whether it won or lost.

Game-By-Game Previews
Each read below is drafted by our preview engine from the consensus numbers on this board and nothing else, then filtered before publication: it cannot cite an injury, a record or a statistic, because it is not given any, and language that promises a result is rejected outright. They are a starting point for your own handicapping, not a substitute for it. The plays we actually stake are on the card above.
Oklahoma City Thunder at Cleveland Cavaliers
Card focus
NBA · Mon 7:10 PM ET · Cavaliers -4 · O/U 228.5 · ML Thunder +146 / Cavaliers -175
Cleveland -4 carries a -175 moneyline, pricing the Cavaliers around 64% to win outright, which means the market expects this to clear a possession or two more often than not. For Oklahoma City, the side bet is about staying inside one defensive stand late, not about winning outright. At 228.5, the total sits in the middle of tonight's range, making the spread the more defined number here.
Washington Wizards at Orlando Magic
Card focus
NBA · Mon 7:40 PM ET · Magic -2.5 · O/U 224.5 · ML Wizards +119 / Magic -142
Orlando -2.5 is essentially a one-possession line, and the -142 price attached to it reflects a moneyline premium beyond what a bare 2.5-point favorite usually carries. Washington covering requires only keeping the game within a single bucket late. The total at 224.5 is unremarkable relative to the rest of the slate, which puts the relative value question squarely on whether that home-favorite price is doing more work than the spread itself.
Miami Heat at Los Angeles Lakers
Card focus
NBA · Mon 10:10 PM ET · Lakers -2 · O/U 238.5 · ML Heat +110 / Lakers -130
Lakers -2 with Miami getting plus money on the moneyline is about as tight as a line gets. A two-point number means a single defensive possession separates cover from no-cover, so this is a game where the moneyline underdog price (+110) is arguably the cleaner bet than either side of the spread. The 238.5 total is the highest on the board tonight, worth more attention than the margin.
Atlanta Hawks at Indiana Pacers
NBA · Mon 7:40 PM ET · Hawks -5 · O/U 232.5 · ML Hawks -195 / Pacers +160
Atlanta -5 at -195 on the moneyline means the market has the Hawks winning outright well over 65% of the time, a larger gap than the spread number alone implies. For Indiana, covering means losing by single digits rather than needing to win. The 232.5 total is middling for this slate, leaving the spread as the more decisive number for bettors weighing this game.
Brooklyn Nets at New York Knicks
NBA · Mon 7:40 PM ET · Knicks -14.5 · O/U 221.5 · ML Nets +600 / Knicks -900
New York -14.5 at a -900 moneyline is a blowout number, pricing the Knicks above 90% to win straight up. Brooklyn covering requires keeping the final margin under 15, a different and easier task than competing for the win. At 221.5, the total is on the lower end of tonight's slate, which given the lopsided spread may be the more balanced market to examine.
Detroit Pistons at Charlotte Hornets
NBA · Mon 7:40 PM ET · Pistons -4 · O/U 211 · ML Pistons -175 / Hornets +145
Detroit -4 with a -175 moneyline implies the market favors the Pistons to win outright close to two-thirds of the time, a meaningfully larger edge than the four-point number alone conveys. Charlotte covering just needs the game to stay within a single defensive stop late. The total at 211 is the lowest posted tonight, standing out more than the spread on a slate otherwise clustered in the 220s and 230s.
Chicago Bulls at Philadelphia 76ers
NBA · Mon 7:40 PM ET · 76ers -11.5 · O/U 239.5 · ML Bulls +420 / 76ers -575
Philadelphia -11.5 against a +420 Chicago moneyline is a wide gap, with the Sixers priced near 85% to win outright. Chicago covering requires losing by single digits rather than competing for the result. The total sits at 239.5, the highest number on the board, which given the lopsided favorite status makes the point total the more interesting market to weigh tonight.
Sacramento Kings at Dallas Mavericks
NBA · Mon 8:10 PM ET · Mavericks -10 · O/U 234.5 · ML Kings +313 / Mavericks -400
Dallas -10 with a -400 moneyline prices the Mavericks near 80% to win straight up, a steep number that puts real weight on the double-digit spread rather than treating it as a formality. Sacramento covering only needs to stay within single digits. At 234.5, the total runs above the slate median, giving bettors two live decisions rather than one here.
New Orleans Pelicans at Memphis Grizzlies
NBA · Mon 8:10 PM ET · Grizzlies -5.5 · O/U 235 · ML Pelicans +184 / Grizzlies -220
Memphis -5.5 sits just above the key number of 5 or 6 in NBA scoring patterns, meaning the half point matters less than it would in football but still nudges this off a true pick-six margin. New Orleans covering requires staying within six. The 235 total ranks among the higher numbers tonight, worth weighing against a spread that's fairly standard for a home favorite at -220.
Milwaukee Bucks at Minnesota Timberwolves
NBA · Mon 8:10 PM ET · Timberwolves -10.5 · O/U 233.5 · ML Bucks +356 / Timberwolves -475
Minnesota -10.5 at -475 on the moneyline reflects a favorite expected to win outright more than four times out of five, which is a steeper gap than the spread number by itself suggests. Milwaukee covering means avoiding a double-digit final margin. The total at 233.5 is moderate for the slate, leaving the side as the number carrying more informational weight tonight.
Boston Celtics at Houston Rockets
NBA · Mon 8:40 PM ET · Rockets -5 · O/U 219.5 · ML Celtics +166 / Rockets -200
Houston -5 at -200 prices the Rockets at roughly two-thirds to win outright, a gap wider than the bare spread implies. Boston covering requires keeping the margin under five, essentially one defensive stop. At 219.5, the total is among the lower numbers on tonight's board, which stands out more than the spread given how common 5-point home favorites are across the rest of the slate.
Utah Jazz at San Antonio Spurs
NBA · Mon 8:40 PM ET · Spurs -16.5 · O/U 231 · ML Jazz +750 / Spurs -1200
San Antonio -16.5 against a -1200 moneyline is the most lopsided number on tonight's board, with the Spurs priced above 90% to win outright. Utah covering simply needs to avoid a 17-point or larger margin, a much lower bar than competing for the result. The 231 total is unremarkable by comparison, making the spread the only number here worth real scrutiny.
Portland Trail Blazers at Denver Nuggets
NBA · Mon 9:10 PM ET · Nuggets -4 · O/U 230 · ML Blazers +145 / Nuggets -175
Denver -4 at -175 implies a win probability near 64%, again showing the moneyline pricing a bit more separation than the four-point spread alone suggests. Portland covering requires staying within a single defensive possession late. The 230 total sits right at the slate's midpoint, giving this game a fairly standard profile on both sides of the board.
Phoenix Suns at Golden State Warriors
NBA · Mon 10:10 PM ET · Warriors -4.5 · O/U 227.5 · ML Suns +150 / Warriors -185
Golden State -4.5 at -185 puts the Warriors near 65% to win outright, a touch more separation than the half-point spread implies on its own. Phoenix covering means keeping the game within four. At 227.5, the total lands in the middle of tonight's range, leaving the spread as the number with the clearer read given the moneyline gap attached to it.
Toronto Raptors at Los Angeles Clippers
NBA · Mon 10:10 PM ET · Raptors -5 · O/U 220.5 · ML Raptors -193 / Clippers +160
The number on Raptors is -5, which prices a clear advantage rather than a mismatch, and leaves the underdog live in the fourth quarter. The market has priced 220.5 points into this one, which is the number to start from if the side is too close to call. Moneyline consensus is Raptors -193 / Clippers +160. Prices move up to 10:10 PM ET, so treat the number here as where the market was and not necessarily where you can get on.
How To Read Tonight's NBA Numbers
Basketball spreads are efficient and basketball totals are less so, and the reason is that a total is a statement about pace as much as about quality.
- Start with possessions. Two teams that play fast produce a high total even when neither is good. The pace and totals guide covers how to convert an expected possession count into a number.
- Read the schedule before the matchup. A back-to-back on the road at the end of a five-game trip is worth points, and the market prices it — but not always enough. See back-to-backs and rest and travel.
- Expect late movement. NBA injury news lands in the hour before tip-off and moves spreads several points. A number posted this morning is provisional in a way an NFL number is not.
- Blowout risk cuts both ways. A team up thirty rests its starters, which is why large spreads and high totals interact in ways a naive model misses.
Where NBA Value Usually Hides
| Market | Efficiency | Worth attacking? |
|---|---|---|
| Game spread | Very high | Only with a schedule or news edge |
| Game total | Medium to high | Yes, on pace mismatches |
| First-half lines | Medium | Yes, when rest is the thesis |
| Player props | Low to medium | Yes — the best volume market |
| Live lines | Medium | Yes, with a plan set before tip |
| Same-game parlays | Poor value | Rarely |
Each of those has its own page — spreads, totals and props — and the props page is where a nightly slate produces the most repeatable work.
What Makes Tonight's Card
The bar is the same every night: our number on the game has to differ from the market's by more than the vig. On an eleven-game slate that produces three or four plays, not eleven, and a slate where nothing qualifies gets nothing.
Basketball's schedule structure means a disproportionate share of those plays come from spots rather than from opinions about teams — which is a good thing, because a spot is checkable in advance and an opinion is not. The record is published either way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are tonight's NBA picks free?
The board, the previews and the analysis on this page are free and refresh every morning. The graded card with write-ups and unit sizing goes to members, and results are posted publicly on the records page.
Why do NBA lines move so late?
Because injury information does. Rest designations and load-management calls are frequently announced in the hour before tip-off, and a starter's status can be worth several points of spread. It is the main reason a morning number and a tip-off number differ more in the NBA than in any other major league.
Are NBA totals easier to beat than spreads?
They are less efficiently priced, which is not the same as easy. A total is a pace estimate, and pace is more predictable than the outcome of a close game — so a bettor with a defensible possession estimate has something to work with. Start with pace and totals.
