NFL Picks Today: September 27, 2026
Consensus spreads and totals across US books, a read on every game, and the evergreen method behind the card — refreshed every morning.
Updated September 27, 2026 · Money Maverick Sports
Sunday's board features two games priced inside a single point (Houston -1.5, Minnesota -1) alongside a pair of double-digit and near-double-digit favorites in Kansas City -10 and Seattle -8.5. Totals range from a slate-low 37.5 in Giants-Titans to a slate-high 53.5 in Ravens-Cowboys, giving bettors a wide split between low-scoring grinds and high-total shootouts to weigh against the spreads.
Numbers below are the median across 11 US sportsbooks surveyed when this edition published, not one book's opinion. Lines move all day — confirm the current price at your own book before betting, and read line shopping for why the half point you give away is the most expensive habit in betting.
Today's Card
The NFL card is deliberately short. Seventeen games a week means the edge is in waiting for the right number, not in having an opinion on all of them.
Today's graded plays have not been published on this page. Members receive the full card — every play, the write-up behind it and the recommended unit sizing — before the numbers move, and every result is posted publicly afterwards on the records page whether it won or lost.

Game-By-Game Previews
Each read below is drafted by our preview engine from the consensus numbers on this board and nothing else, then filtered before publication: it cannot cite an injury, a record or a statistic, because it is not given any, and language that promises a result is rejected outright. They are a starting point for your own handicapping, not a substitute for it. The plays we actually stake are on the card above.
Carolina Panthers at Cleveland Browns
Card focus
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Panthers -2 · O/U 42.5 · ML Panthers -130 / Browns +110
Carolina -2 with a -130 moneyline is steeper juice than a two-point line usually carries, meaning the market is pricing in more separation than the spread alone suggests. Cleveland at +110 needs only to keep this inside a field goal to cash the number. At 42.5, the total sits in the middle of the pack, so the side is the more textured number here, with the moneyline gap the thing worth reconciling against the spread.
Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts
Card focus
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Texans -1.5 · O/U 42.5 · ML Texans -125 / Colts +105
Houston -1.5 is about as tight as a spread gets, effectively a coin flip with a half-point tax. Indianapolis at +105 is priced as live to win outright, which the market rarely offers at longer odds. The 42.5 total mirrors several other games on the slate, so there is nothing distinctive in the scoring number; the interesting question is whether either side deserves to be favored at all given how close the line sits to pick'em.
Minnesota Vikings at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Card focus
NFL · Sun 4:05 PM ET · Vikings -1 · O/U 42.5 · ML Vikings -120 / Buccaneers +100
Minnesota -1 with a -120 moneyline is another near pick'em, the smallest true edge the market is willing to assign on this slate. Tampa Bay getting the extra half point around even money reflects that thin margin directly. The 42.5 total is unremarkable, so this is a game where the side price itself, not the total, is the number worth scrutinizing given how little separation is being priced in.
Los Angeles Chargers at Buffalo Bills
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Bills -7.5 · O/U 50 · ML Chargers +275 / Bills -340
Buffalo -7.5 sits right on the most common NFL margin, meaning the half point is doing real work against pushes at exactly 7. Los Angeles at +275 needs more than a field goal swing to cover, and the -340 moneyline reflects a favorite priced to win comfortably more often than it covers. At 50, the total is the highest on the board, making the over/under arguably the sharper conversation than the lopsided side.
Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Bengals -3.5 · O/U 42.5 · ML Bengals -184 / Steelers +155
Cincinnati -3.5 is a half point beyond the key number 3, which removes the most common final margin from the push column entirely. Pittsburgh at +155 is being priced as a live dog but not a live favorite. The 42.5 total keeps this in line with several other games this week, so the more interesting number is whether that extra half point on the spread is justified relative to the moneyline gap.
New York Jets at Detroit Lions
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Lions -6.5 · O/U 48 · ML Jets +250 / Lions -315
Detroit -6.5 straddles the space between a field goal and a touchdown, avoiding both common push numbers by a half point in either direction. New York at +250 is priced as a live underdog rather than a token one. The 48 total is on the higher end of the slate, giving this game two numbers worth weighing rather than one clearly dominant angle.
New England Patriots at Jacksonville Jaguars
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Jaguars -3 · O/U 46 · ML Patriots +130 / Jaguars -155
Jacksonville -3 sits directly on the most contested number in football, meaning both sides are paying for exposure to the single most common margin of victory. New England at +130 is priced with real value if it can keep the final margin at or under a field goal. At 46, the total is middling, so the side number is where the structure of this line matters most.
Kansas City Chiefs at Miami Dolphins
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Chiefs -10 · O/U 45.5 · ML Chiefs -670 / Dolphins +488
Kansas City -10 with a -670 moneyline is the most lopsided price on the slate, implying a win probability well north of 85 percent independent of the margin. Miami at +488 is priced almost entirely off moneyline value rather than spread value. The 45.5 total is unremarkable next to that gap, so any interest here is in whether the double-digit number is priced correctly relative to how heavy the moneyline is.
Tennessee Titans at New York Giants
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Giants -2.5 · O/U 37.5 · ML Titans +115 / Giants -135
New York Giants -2.5 keeps this inside a field goal, and at 37.5 the total is the lowest on the slate by a clear margin. That combination suggests a market expecting a low-scoring, close contest rather than one team pulling away. Tennessee at +115 is priced as competitive straight up, which is consistent with the modest total more than with the moneyline gap alone.
Seattle Seahawks at Washington Commanders
NFL · Sun 1:00 PM ET · Seahawks -8.5 · O/U 40 · ML Seahawks -395 / Commanders +303
Seattle -8.5 paired with a 40 total implies a market picturing something like a 24-15 type outcome rather than a track meet. Washington at +303 is priced as a longer shot on the moneyline than the 8.5 spread alone would suggest, which is the gap worth noting. With the total this low, the total itself may be the sharper number relative to the wide spread.
Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers
NFL · Sun 4:05 PM ET · 49ers -7.5 · O/U 48 · ML Cardinals +290 / 49ers -375
San Francisco -7.5 is again a half point off the key number 7, and the 48 total is on the higher side of the slate, allowing room for that margin to hold even in a game that scores. Arizona at +290 is priced as a live but clear underdog. The interplay between a high total and a large-but-not-huge spread makes both sides of the number worth separate consideration here.
Baltimore Ravens at Dallas Cowboys
NFL · Sun 4:25 PM ET · Ravens -3.5 · O/U 53.5 · ML Ravens -180 / Cowboys +153
Baltimore -3.5 sits just past the key number 3, and at 53.5 this carries the highest total on the entire slate. That combination suggests a market expecting scoring from both sides rather than one built on defense and field position. Dallas at +153 is priced as live throughout, consistent with a total this high leaving room for the trailing team to stay within range.
Las Vegas Raiders at New Orleans Saints
NFL · Sun 4:25 PM ET · Saints -3.5 · O/U 43.5 · ML Raiders +152 / Saints -180
New Orleans -3.5 again clears the key number 3 by a half point, removing the single most common margin from the push column. Las Vegas at +152 is priced as a moderate underdog rather than a heavy one. At 43.5, the total is close to the slate median, so the spread carries more information here than the total does.
Los Angeles Rams at Denver Broncos
NFL · Sun 8:20 PM ET · Rams -2.5 · O/U 44 · ML Rams -133 / Broncos +111
Los Angeles Rams -2.5 keeps this inside a field goal in the night window, with Denver at +111 priced close enough that either side of the number is live. At 44, the total sits near the middle of the day's range. With neither number carrying outsized juice, this is a case where the spread and total are both modestly priced rather than either one standing out.
How To Read Today's NFL Numbers
Every spread and total on the board above is the median across the US sportsbooks surveyed at publication, which makes it a fair statement of where the market sits rather than one book's shading. Your own book will differ, sometimes by the half point that decides the bet.
Three things to check before anything else:
- Where the number sits relative to 3 and 7. Roughly a quarter of NFL games land on exactly those margins. Moving from -3 to -2.5 buys real win probability; moving from -5 to -4.5 buys almost none. Detail in key numbers.
- Which direction the number has already travelled. A game that opened at -6 and sits at -3.5 is telling you something the closing number will confirm. That is the substance of closing line value.
- Whether the total or the side is the more interesting price. On most NFL slates the total is the softer of the two, because public money concentrates on sides.
When To Bet An NFL Game Today
NFL numbers follow a weekly rhythm, and the same play is worth different prices depending on when you take it.
| What you like | Best time to bet | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A favourite the public will also like | Early in the week | Public money pushes the number up as the weekend approaches. |
| An unpopular underdog | Sunday morning | That same money has moved the price in your favour. |
| An under | Late | Overs attract recreational money; unders get cheaper. |
| A total affected by wind | Once the forecast firms | Wind is priced late and often incompletely. |
| Anything after a quarterback ruling | Immediately | Backup-quarterback spreads move several points within minutes. |
None of that tells you which side to take. It tells you what a side is worth once you have decided, which is the part most bettors skip.
What Makes Today's Card
A number reaching the card has to clear the same bar every day: our own price on the game has to differ from the market price by more than the vig we are paying to get on. That is it. No play is added because a slate looks thin, and a slate with nothing on it gets nothing.
That produces two to five NFL plays in a normal week rather than a full slate of them, and it is why the documented record is posted publicly rather than described in adjectives. If you want the reasoning rather than the plays, the expected value and unit sizing guides are the whole method in two pages.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are today's NFL picks free?
The board, the game-by-game previews and the analysis on this page are free and updated every morning. The graded card — the actual plays with write-ups and recommended unit sizing — goes to members, and last season's results are posted on the records page whether they were good or bad.
Where do the odds on this page come from?
They are the median spread and total across the US sportsbooks surveyed when the page was published, so no single book's shading distorts the number. Lines move all day; always confirm the current price at your own book before betting, and read line shopping for why the difference matters more than most bettors assume.
How many NFL plays should be on a card?
Fewer than most services publish. Seventeen games a season and one slate a week means genuine number edges are scarce, so two to five plays is a normal week and zero is a legitimate answer to a bad one. A service that finds ten plays every Sunday is selling volume, not edge.
Why does this page change every day?
Because the board does. A new edition publishes each morning with the day's games and numbers, and the previous day's edition is kept permanently in the pick archive so you can see what the market looked like before the games were played rather than after.
